Re: Selling

If you’re just getting messages, those are attempts to scam you.

Re: Selling

Anyone asking you to text or call them, or to include a gift card is a scammer. Given your limited selling history and your limited knowledge of how eBay works, I don't think your watch sale is going to have a happy ending. I'm assuming that you listed the watch because you can afford to lose it. Is this correct?

You probably need to take a deep breath, relax, and explain exactly what is happening in more detail. For example, what is "ebay tex"?

But I will hazard a guess anyway:

If a "buyer" has sent you an offer via the eBay messaging system and wants you to call them or text them to arrange payment, then you are being scammed.

If a "buyer" ever wants to send you extra money so you can buy them a gift card, or send it by overnight express, or so that you can pay their shipper, you are being scammed.

Basically, "Make an offer " is a perfect mechanism for scams, because the buyer can engage you without having to actually pay you any money. And if he can con you into giving him your email or your phone number, he can send fake messages that make you think they came from eBay.

Re: Selling

If you are getting messages to text a person, it is an attempt to scam you out of your watch and the money.  You would likely get an e-mail saying that you have been paid but the money won't be released until you prove shipping.

Do Not take sales off ebay - it is against policy.  There is no reason for any text messaging.  Do Not fall for a request for a Gift Card to be included.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Re: Selling

You have an auction with a BIN price. Watches are very high scam items.

If this buyer really wants the watch, they can pay the BIN price or bid…

I see this ending badly… Watches are very high scam items….

You should really read these boards and see what is most likely going to happen.

@escobeta34

This watch will be shipped to an official ebay watch Authenticator. That address will be provided when the item is paid for. Be sure to ship to the address provided when you look at the completed transaction through your eBay account.

You are a new seller with a very expensive item for sale. You will have to keep your head on a swivel in order not to be scammed out of this item. The authentication process could be your only saving grace.

Read about the authentication process here

Re: Selling

Auctions are less than 15% of eBay transactions and are the source of the most Unpaid Item Disputes.

Buyers don't like them.

Today's buyer wants to know what she will be paying (including shipping costs), to pay, and to receive what she paid for.

KISS.

You can use Fixed Price /Immediate Payment Required for the same cost as a seven day Auction. The Fixed Price listing will last 30 days or until someone pays for it, then will re-list at no further cost if no one does.

Re: Selling

Be very careful...there are many different scams happening on EBAY.    Scammers target "high value" items.  They get your item and then "reverse credit card" (keep item and your money).   EBAY will NOT help you if you are scammed.   Never make any deals or text anyone (outside of EBAY) usually a setup for scam.

Also understand that EBAY Money Back Guarantee (supersedes "no returns" policy) if customer claims "not as described, defective, counterfeit).   Customers do NOT have to prove claims.  EBAY only looks at return tracking#.   Even if customer returns (box of rocks) you are forced to give refund (including postage BOTH ways).

Re: Selling

Yeah, as others have said, be careful here.  That's a pricey item prone to scams.

I've always heard around here, "If you can't afford to lose it, then don't list it for sale on Ebay."

Re: Selling

You have only 2 selling feedbacks from over a year ago  and you're selling a very expensive watch.

An inexperienced seller with an expensive item is a target for scammers.  A legitimate buyer makes an offer through the listing. A scammer says text me, or more often kindly  text me. Next they want your PayPal address to send you a FAKE email from PayPal telling you to ship to get paid.   A legitimate buyer pays on eBay where they have buyer protection.
