Selling the same items over and over and over again... But thousands go un-noticed?

If ebay spend a little more time trying to sell items that haven't gotten any attention things could actually pick up.

I've noticed since the fall update I've been selling the same items over and over and over again, sometimes multiples in one day.  And there not rare items or high demand items.  They're just random items that are very similar to thousands of other items I have that are getting ZERO attention.

Impressions and traffic down nearly 25% since the fall update, sales down a lot also.  (but for the random items that seem to be getting all the attention).

I don' t understand the idea behind constantly pushing the same items but ignoring everything else.  Does anyone else notice this weird trend?

Like why would I sell several pairs of "USAF Tech Sergeant" patches in one day, then again a day or so later... And again, And again.  But all the other chevrons I have go completely without any traffic?

It's random.  A car part I had a dozen of and have had for years suddenly becomes so popular it sells to multiple customers several days in one week.

I know other items are being hidden or "shadowed".  I just wish ebay would take their foot off my neck and let my stuff sell!  Christmas is going to be very disappointing this year.

Ebay doesn't sell items.

No, you don't. Pure speculation.

eBay doesn't spend time selling an item because it's not their job.

The seller is the one who is selling,  not eBay.

@movieman630 There could be many reasons why items sell while similar don't. One reason could be that one of your items that sells frequently could be featured in an article or promoted by a celebrity/person/TV Show. For example. I sold vintage headphones and had a variety of different models/price points/quality. I noticed that one sold rather quickly after i posted it. After comping other sales, many were now selling for $200 or more when they have been selling for $15 for years. It was because those headphones were used on a TV show "Strangers Things" and apparently that drove the price up. The good thing was that i had several that i could list at current market price. You never know what inspires buyers to purchase what they do sometimes.

Maybe look at the ones that are selling and try to duplicate your listing as much as possible for the items that are similar. (Keywords, Description, Details) Just an idea.

ROTFL. If you have items that are selling over and over again, sometimes multiples in one day ... that is the very definition of  "in demand".

People do not accidentally buy items that they do not want. They still have to search for them, look at the listing, decide to purchase, and complete the purchase.

Perhaps you are simply just as mistaken about the demand for your other items as you are about the demand for these items?

You're not getting the point.  They're not "in demand" they're fairly common on here with multiple sellers having them in stock.  They're random items.  Yet I have other items that other sellers are currently selling at higher prices and mine aren't even getting views.  It makes no rational sense.

If they are selling, they are "in demand".

It doesn't matter how many others there are out there for sale.

So you're upset because you have some items that sell a lot and some items that don't?

You want ebay to "spread the wealth"?

Am I understanding that correctly?

Ebay has no control over which of your items sell and which don't.

That is ridiculous.

Success begets success. And it contributes to best fit and earlier placement in search results

The way search works, selling one item will raise like items (same category, for instance) in your cohort of listings in search. Nothing is being 'shadowed', it's just recency, which along with relevance is a major factor in search. If you have 10 of one item, the other 9 will be raised in search, making more of a chance that buyers will see them, and purchase, so you might have a string of sales. I've had a string of sales in computer mice before, another time remotes.

@movieman630

You should be happy you are getting sales, no matter what they are.

If you frequent this board at all, you will see post after post, day after day, from sellers complaining that they are not getting any sales at all.  None.  And they want to know what is going on.

People can speculate all they want to about whys and why nots but there really is no answer.
