Selling dropping off

I've been selling on Ebay for over 20 years. I generally have 150 or so items listed at all times. Its been great side cash. However , I notice this year sale have dropped dramatically.  Someone PLEASE don't make it a political statement because even during the 2008 financial crisis , Covid in 2020 , etc,  I still had great sales. Anyone have similar experiences?

As far as promoting...I find lowering the price is a better option for me.

Six of one....

I'd rather give 2%  in fees to eBay than 10% discount to a buyer.

But I'd rather give 10% discount to a buyer than 10% in fees to eBay.

And many would rather give a 10% discount to the buyer than 2% in fees to eBay.

Which is an emotional rather than a business decision for many.

The question is really - what puts the most money in our pockets?

I would say it's probably something to do with bad practices leading people to mark the over abundance of messing, notifications offers on a miss click as spam that then causes the engines to knock them down on search and email to show up in a instant shredded file..ect ect..that's becoming my theory..

@66boos

When I consistently list more items for sale to back up the existing listings, my sales are always higher.

When I don't list new items for weeks or months, my sales are always slower.

I thought things were bad when my monthly sales dropped from 35-45 per month to the 20s (Jan 2023).  Six months later they dropped to the teens.  Every month this year has been bad (sold 11 items in 4 different  months and 9 in April) This month is going to be my worst ever in 25+ years... TWO small sales and it's June 23.

I'm going to list some stuff that hasn't been up for a long time... you never know...

And next year also!  And the year after that, and the year after that.

The Ops products resemble what I am thinking about.  Nice OLD tools books, etc., some of which I even have, but did not collect or purchase myself.  I won't go into the stories of why I have a lot of old tools, but I do.

Many older boomers no longer have a need or desire to keep a grandfather, great-grandfathers, toolboxes, tools, vintage artifacts, manuals, NASA photographs, and other fascinating memorabilia from bygone eras for our children who don't want these things.

Re: sales dropping off of material possessions

I would not find it as surprising that more & more people are nowadays interested in positive psychology

Have you tried enlisting items then resist them after they are unlisted?  Works for me.
