When someone on the M2M asked if Xray machines could be sold on eBay, I was curious and looked.
To my surprise, there ARE Xray machines listed for sale on eBay.
Some are dental and veterinary Xray units. I have no idea how/if those are regulated, but I DO know for sure that the operation of an Xray machine which uses ionizing radiation is closely regulated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The only people who can use an Xray machine are Registered Radiologic Technologists.
In addition, you cannot just buy an Xray machine and have your handyman install it for you. And the NRC continues to monitor the use of the machine throughout its lifetime.
So, again, HOW CAN IT POSSIBLY BE LEGAL TO SELL XRAY MACHINES ON EBAY?

You get the doctors radiation registration number for documentation.
If it's going to another state, the doctor has to have an authorize installer install it and they fill out the FDA 2579 and or EPE paperwork to submit to the state.
It that doctor gets inspected, they better have their documentation for this or they will get written up and hefty fines can come with the write up.
They also have to have them inspected/EPE every 4 years here in Texas.
X-Ray machines are very regulated. Plus you better make sure you're selling FDA approved machines.
I only sell the handheld machines here since they require no installation. Only the FDA 2579 and EPE (if that state requires it).
