Selling Multiples of Same Item

Hello,

I have literally hundreds of the same item to sell.  My question is, from a best practice standpoint, do I list it one time, with a quantity of 100+, or do I trickle them in with seperate listings?

Can someone give me their expert opinion or at least some pros/cons to either approach?

Thanks in advance for your time in looking at this post,

When you say "trickle them in with separate listings" just be sure you are aware of eBay's duplicate listing policy.

That aside ...

I will expand upon what the previous poster said. It all depends upon the item, the supply and demand for it, and your goals.

For instance - if your goal is to sell them as fast as possible for a quick profit, then multi-quantity might be the best route. But if you have time and are looking to squeeze every penny out of buyers, one at a time may make more sense.

If the item is something people might want to buy in bulk it might make sense to do a multi-quantity listing. If not, perhaps one at a time.

On the other hand, if the item is a collectible then just the knowledge that hundreds are available might cause the price to plummet or buyers to "wait you out" until demand drops off.

Or perhaps something in between, where maybe your "individual" listing only has a quantity of 2 or 3 or 5 - in order to capture a multi-quantity buyer without tipping the market that you have hundreds. This is what I do with some of my semi-collectible items because I do not want to tip the market that I have 1500 of them 🙂

To add to lucky's reasons:

How many of these items are currently listed? And how many of those listings are multi-qty?

If there are many others of the same thing currently listed ... then a multi-qty GTC listing that is "better"  (price, shipping, details, photos) will place higher in search with a history of sales attached to it. The more sales that the listing generates, the better.
