Hi
I want to sell an item that has more than 500$. So i thought to avoid fake return and replace any other thing. i planned to video record of serial number and functionality of the product before i handover to shipping carrier and put a signature delivery on shipment and put reinforced water activated tape for to make it harder from tampering and a insurance coverage for to, in case something happened during shipment.ask buyer to open the package . . will these idea safe from thieves .? What is your thoughts....

Sorry to say this but a video is a waste of time.
Ebay will not consider it or even view it in a dispute.
There is no way to avoid a fraudulent return.
There is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent it.
Any buyer at any time can file a fraudulent claim.
I would never sell anything valued at more than about $100.
There is a saying amongst ebay sellers....
"Don't sell anything on ebay that you can't afford to lose".

Ebay does not look at videos or photos of packaging if buyer files a dispute. Just pack well enough that you would be able to throw your package down a flight of stairs without worrying about it. Your feedback shows that you have had problems with that in the past.
Including the serial number in your listing is a good way to discourage casual scammers from switching your item and returning another - but it is only a discouragement. If a scammer returns a different one Ebay will still force a refund.
Signature Confirmation does not give you any additional security on a sale below $750. Ebay only requires it on sales over $750 and that is only for delivery protection. Not as described disputes can require a full refund so if you want your item back before refunding then you will need to send a return label.
In the last thread you started about a week ago you were asked what the item was and you did not answer. You might want to go back and read the answers to your last posting and maybe answer the questions there so people can give you better advice.

No.
If you can't afford to get ripped off, as well as pay for it, too, don't sell on-line and/or accepting credit cards - sell in person, cash only.

Any customer can "reverse credit card charges" after they receive your item (keep item & your money).

Hi, while video evidence might be helpful if you take someone to court, for eBay’s purposes, video documentation is not accepted in a dispute. Part of the reason is that it is not considered conclusive proof. eBay will argue that once the camera is turned off, the package could still be tampered with.
Additionally, the item may work well at the sender’s end, but that doesn't guarantee the item will still work upon delivery, because even the most carefully packaged item can still be potentially damaged in transit (particularly with electronics, pc’s etc). So videoing doesn’t really protect sellers from a determined fraudster.
Of course every seller needs to mitigate their risk when selling online, but there is no foolproof method to avoid theft on eBay. Anyone can steal virtually any item at any time through the application of a bogus Not As Described claim. Ultimately each user must determine what their risk tolerance is ahead of listing, which you are doing, and which is wise.
In your case, the fact you have a nice feedback score will deter some scammers from targeting you. And
it is a good idea to record the serial numbers in the listing itself (as a forestall to those who may be tempted to do a switcheroo), sending a message that this isn’t your first rodeo. Scammers want easy marks instead.
What kind of item is it you are considering listing? Some categories are more high fraud than others. Computers, smartphones, gaming items, designer luxury goods, etc. are more prone to attract the attention of thieves.
It is good to be prepared, but keep in mind it is also important to keep one’s liabilities in perspective. Most eBay transactions go off without a hitch. My experience selling around the $500+ price point has been positive, with no fraud attempts in over ten years.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

thought:
Rule no: 1 of selling on the internets
If you can not afford to lose item and all money that may be payed for it: do not list it for sale on the nets..

No, none of that will do any good.
If they are out to steal your item, they will.

Why don't you just sell this mystery item locally? You've started three threads, now, about selling a costly item -- which means to me that you cannot afford to lose the money / item. Sell it locally for cash and be done with it.

I think any buyer can steal any item from any seller at any time by filing a fraudulent dispute, and that
eBay will not review your video or verify the serial number or inspect your tamper-resistant tape.

I have sold items in the range of $300 to $1100, with out any issues. I always add signature confirmation, buy insurance and get a receipt from the post office when I drop the item off.
Good luck on your selling journey.
