Am I the only seller that thinks eBay needs to level the playing field and let sellers leave negative comments in the feedback? Buyers can (and do) say anything they want in Feedback but sellers have to be nice or silent.
Brand non-payers with a visable negative mark on their feedback and it might reduce (or shame) some of them into stopping it. Sure they are legitimate reasons to not pay but speak up -- don't just go silent and not pay. Those are the ones that should be exposed as fakes.
Even worse I had one pay and then within an hour write and say I want a credit.
I hd one in feedback make a negative comment about an item saying something was broken when the auction clearly labeled that bit as broen but being included at no extra charge if the buyer wanted to try and repair it. To eBay's credit they did cancel that feddback but only after I called them and expained the situation and pointed out where the auction clearly showed that information.
eBay let us leave negative (or even netural) comentss about buyers!

exactly , that's why I don't leave follow up , as I stated this was out of fruststration .
buyers who leave negatives usually hurt themselves without any help from the seller leaving followup. if you look at the feedback left for others on their profile it's sometimes a pattern of them doing the same thing to other sellers.

Negative feedback never detered non-payers and scammers. Negative feedback for buyers would not benefit anyone, least of all other sellers because with the exception of receiving an offer & checking the buyers feedback before accepting, sellers would not see the buyers feedback until after the sale. So sellers would still be forced to sell to these bad buyers. Leaving bad feedback would just make the seller feel good because they got to "punish" the buyer with a red donut and a bad remark!

Also one other thing I wanted to add.....I buy and sell on 2 other venues where the seller can leave negative feedback for the buyer. It doesn't deter bad buyers and scammers there either. Sellers can cancel transactions without penalty also. BUT what I think is important is this--- and its just my honest opinion based on my own buyer experience --I really think negative feedback for buyers enables a less-than honest feedback system because AS A BUYER, I am very hesitant to leave a negative rating for a seller (unless they were outright scammer) because they can retaliate with negative feedback. I wanted to leave negative feedback for a seller that took 11 business days to ship (despite a 2 day handling time) and she flat out lied and said she shipped the day after purchase and she was just rude. But I was afraid to because she could retaliate against me with a negative feedback and I do not want other sellers to see that and start cancelling my purchases! (Because believe me, they will do it that!!) they are the same silly sellers who have a heart attack and think they are being scammed when a 0 zero feedback buyer buys their item on ebay and pays for it!

lets see what is another name for ..... fill in the blanks
this conversation is ridiculous , I sent another buyer a piece of jewelry the same way only it was a brooch double boxed in a clinique blush box inside the outside box, she opened it and was very happy with her purchase and left me positive feedback.
you can debate this topic forever, the point is that sellers will always have difficult buyers , that's a given .

Of course sellers will have difficult buyers. The only thing is if you lose your temper and spank them in public you will end up with MORE difficult buyers and fewer good ones.
I don't think it's worth it but your mileage may vary.

Exactly. You seem to be intelligent enough to understand that no matter what you do, there is just no pleasing some people.
It would be best if instead of getting upset by this uncontrollable fact you could just accept it as part of doing business. It's really not worth the effort to get bent out of shape about something like this.
And look on the bright side.. at least you didn't sell a $2,000 laptop or purse and have someone claim you sent them **bleep** and return a different item to you that is worthless.. I know it's a drastic example but I always try to at least consider the possibility that something happening to me is not the worst thing that could happen.
Also another thing to keep in mind is, if you always make sure to maintain a professional attitutude, not just directly with your buyers but everywhere you speak about them publicly, it will make you look much more responsible and stable as a seller and as a person.
Good luck to you in the future!

I am 100% against sellers being able to leave buyers negative feedback. In fact I would prefer that buyers do not get any kind of feedback from sellers.
Good Luck Selling!

A seller I am currently in dispute with is actively trying to get me banned from ebay and keeps sending me messages telling me that my days on ebay are numbered...
In a message earlier today he claimed he was "fed up of my bull**** and that he's panning to have my negative feedback removed" (only he didn't use the stars). After I replied that he has my money and the items he messaged me to say "Keep this up and your account will be closed", to which I replied "Oh, how ironic that would be..." to which he replied "Go away, stop bothering me", to which I replied "I'll go away when you stop sending me messages boasting about how you're going to remove my negative feedback", to which he replied "my messages are a reply to your feedback".
So this guy misrepresented his items, sent items that were not as described, refused the return of said items, called me a liar all through the process, still denies recieving the goods back, still persists in making me out to be the bad guy, and is now threatening me via private ebay messages.
Looking at his history, he started ebay'ing in 2005. He still seems to think he's listing on ebay version 2005...
So... if you don't see me around...

Is there something that prevents you from ignoring those messages and from responding?
11-01-2017 03:52 PM
No. Not at all. It's a shame that that is the only thing you're taking away from the post though... I mean, if I had ignored him the first time would I have found out he's planning and plotting to get me removed from ebay?

Since there’s no way they can do that, why do you care?

Why do you keep replying to me in this thread?

You just replied to me. It’s a discussion forum. It’s what people do here.

And that's what messages are, things that people reply to...
