Sellers bypassing EBay fees or WHAT?

Ok so awhile back I bought an article of clothing from a seller. After it was paid for/supposedly shipped, I decided to get another just like it, from the same seller.

However,  I got the second item, but not the first.

Here is the funny part.

When I went to Advance, search sold items from this seller, NEITHER item was there.

Now I tried it on myself and my last sold item and every sold item was there.

The funny thing is, this seller was also HUGELY price gouging Lysol Wipes, Hand Sanitizer, etc.

I called, and asked about this, and reported them for price gouging. Heck, I ahd hand sewn masks and was not even able to list them for over $10...so this person was doing what is definitely not allowed!  PLUS selling Lululemon as a front?

Ok, so next day, immediate refund of my one unreceived item(no claim filed, say what)? Plus their marked u essential items, GONE.

Fast forward, last month my son was visiting from out of country and bought a new XBox from a seller. It was to come Fed Ex in 3 days, from CA to GA.

Nothing, no tracking, nothing, no response. he was getting antsy as he intended to take it with back to where he lives. We spoke to EBay, etc and the funny thing is.

THIS SALE DID NOT SHOW UP IN THAT SELLERS SALES under the search either.

He did eventually get it, but it never showed up as a normal sale would, under his sold items.

How is this possible.

if it is simple, explain it to me.

Makes me wonder about way things I do not want to think about

I believe that when a seller has a listing with a quantity greater than 1, the listing does not show up in his sold listings until the last one has old (or when the seller ends the listing).

Re: Sellers bypassing EBay fees or WHAT?

@momof4anddog, there are several situations where completed/sold listings will not show up in a completed items search.

  • Only items that ended "naturally" will be shown. Items that were ended early, whether by the seller or eBay, don't show up in completed.
  • If a seller uses the Out of Stock option for fixed-price listings, then they don't end when the quantity goes to zero. Listings with zero quantity are not shown in completed search, and if the seller ends the listing, it won't show up because it was ended early.
  • When an item is sold from a multi-quantity listing, it will usually show up in the Sold search even if the listing didn't end because the quantity is greater than zero, but this doesn't seem to be reliable. I think sometimes the sold item won't show up if the quantity goes to zero, but I don't know if anything else can affect the sold/completed visibility.

You may be able to find listings like this by doing a google search on the item title or the item number. This will work if the listing was crawled and cached by google at some point.

This is correct. I often sell multi-quantity items and they do not show up in my sold listings until either 1) I have sold the last one, or 2) the listing rolls over and is renewed under GTC.

Re: Sellers bypassing EBay fees or WHAT?

They probably use the out of stock option.  Nothing fishy about it.  There's another instance in which it happens, I remember it from years ago, but can't remember the details.  It's very common & is no cause for concern all by it's self.  Neither is your refund.  My guess is the seller realized they didn't have it or had less in stock than they thought & just refunded you.  Though communication would have been nice.

Re: Sellers bypassing EBay fees or WHAT?

Believe me you are worrying over nothing. The seller is not bypassing fees as they are taken out immediately when paid by the buyer.

Re: Sellers bypassing EBay fees or WHAT?

I think you are looking in all the wrong places for the items you purchase.

Got to the top of most any Ebay screen.

Right side, locate and hover over the words MY EBAY.

A drop down menu with appear.  Select Purchase History.

There you should be able to find everything you purchased.
