There are many good clothing Sellers on eBay. They provide good pictures, and descriptions with measurements. However, many clothing Sellers do not give measurements so that if you are really interested in an item you have to message them for the info.
You can’t just go by clothing size as companies are not consistent. It got to the point I was messaging people regularly for details/measurements and I got tired of it. If a Seller doesn’t give the important information I just look for a similar item. Buyers should not have to continually ask for measurements etc. I mainly sell dolls and always provide the necessary information.

I'm in the give measurements camp. I don't always do a good job at this, but I try. It isn't just important for clothing. Scale and size isn't obvious for many items and quite important.

As a seller, I always provide measurements on everything I sell. The way I look at it, why not take the extra step? Otherwise, you are increasing your chances of having the item returned...especially on clothing.

I'm backing off asking sellers questions when they do not provide measurements, the material content of the item, and those who state, 'some stains or issues', see photos.
You have to put some effort into your listings. You will see more sales, less questions, and a drop in both return claims and negative / neutral feedback.

I completely agree! Not everyone fits what is considered “standard size”
thank you!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply. I have a large family and often shop for gifts on eBay. Measurements are important in many listing areas. As a Seller/Buyer since 1999 I know that taking the xtra time pays off.

agreed....same situation in handbags and lots of other things...sellers don't put the size and measurements...unless i really want the item i just hit the back button as gets tiring asking the same questions over and over again....don't those sellers not including measurements realize they are losing potential sales?

thank you! My motto is "no measurements no buy" .I refuse to have to contact a seller every single time I am interested in a top. Or jeans. I woont get into the nightmare that is todays trending styles, but if I want a top thats my measurements ,both arm pit to arm pit and length-I have to contact the seller and hope I gte a quic response but never do. Its always at least a day later OR not at all. One seller refused to reply to my request for emasurements for a coat I loved and was polite about it.No response and the coat still hasnt sold. Oh well- No measurements no buy!

When I worked for a catalogue business that sold over the phone (yes, I'm that old) we were taught to suggest looser fitting garments like outerwear or sleepwear when items can't be tried on. It's still good advice. You can usually fit and wear more than a single size. Even when you have the measurements avoid buying tightly tailored garments and you should be okay. Look for fabrics with stretch, knits instead of woven cloth. The world is not perfect and you have to mold to it.
**I once had a pair of size 8 Old Navy jeans that I was so proud of because I usually wear a much bigger size. I was tempted to wear then inside out so everyone could see the tag.**

Buyers do not have to "continually ask for measurements". The clothing category is one of the most saturated on eBay. If there are no measurements or measurements are incomplete, do as you are currently doing, just look for a similar item from one of the multiple other sellers.

I have to disagree with that, I don't deal with clothing except for an occasional T-shirt or hat, & I give the size on those, But if you deal with a large inventory of clothing than you most definitely need to have measurements , size, color, etc. in your description, It is different in a brick & mortar because you have the fitting rooms to try items on, But selling them online is a whole different thing, Besides possible missed sales, & a buyer could view it as a seller with poor work ethics, Sometimes a little extra effort is all it takes to make or break a sale.

It’s not possible to measure every article of clothing, it’s only really a necessity in pre-owned clothing. Manufacturers have a size chart which is usually a better extrapolation of fit. Most customers have no idea how to apply measurements for clothing outside of T-shirts and waist and inseam on pants.
A medium T-shirt will typically have 40-42” of material in the chest, but a medium sized coat may have an external measurement of 52”. This is where size-charts do a much better job of expressing internal space relative to fit.
Plenty of high-end boutiques and stores have direct sales where you don’t get to try on anything, it is a Final Sale. It is only on eBay where you find the most quibbling buyers.

Agreed, I don't buy clothing but collectible blades (knives, daggers, cutlery etc.) and if the seller doesn't provide clear pictures of ALL applicable views and either something for scale in the pictures or in description, I pass and move on. The only time I bother messaging the seller is if it's a very unusual item and even then alot of times they don't respond or just give me the description in the origional posting. PASS. I've learned that unless it's a one-of-a-kind item another will show up in time from a seller that does provide complete information.

The craziest thing is when a clothing seller with a "no returns" policy doesn't include measurements for used clothing. I wonder what's the thought process on that

Just do the walk on by. If a seller can't take the time to provide key dimensions on clothing or any other thing have a serious doubt they are a top shelf vendor.

Men's clothing & foot wear can also be of different sizes as there are no universal size charts for P, PS S, M, L, XL etc. Plus every ones bodies have different shapes in different places and those shapes tend to change over time & the effects of gravity and joint wear and tear.
