Sellers PLEASE stop canceling sales!

Every day I log in to see where sellers have canceled legit sales to 0 feedback buyers or buyers who use reshippers.

KNOCK IT OFF!

I understand the issue with overseas buyers canceling an e-check, but, you shouldnt ship till the check is cleared so that should be a non issue.

I get that folks who use reshippers can scam you if they file a chargeback, but a US buyer can do the same thing. In fact every nasty trick an overseas buyer can pull, a domestic buyer can pull as well.

The fact is, your responsibility on an INR claim is over when it hits the reshipper and you can win a SNAD by showing that it was shipped elsewhere after the initial sale.  Buyers remorse? They have to pay for expensive shipping with tracking on it.

Buyers with 0 feedback? Give me a break, we all started with 0 feedback. Buyers who just started their account the day they bought your item? Hey, maybe they were looking in a search engine and saw your stuff, decided it was a good deal and decided to buy.

Every single scam a 0 fb buyer can pull, a buyer with 100, 1000, or 10,000 feedback can pull as well.

Its in your own best interest, and the interest of your fellow sellers if you stop canceling transactions. Ebay sellers are getting a bad reputation due to canceled sales, and more and more folks are going to Amazon, or Etsy, or anywhere but here to buy.

Re: Sellers PLEASE stop canceling sales!

We agree that all is starting from zero.

From all you have said i can accept a lot but 0 feedback  buyers are proven to be a danger for 2 major reasons:

1. Scammers take advantage of ebay poor system to verify accounts.

There are a lot of ways of verification (for example a valid mobile number) than only an e-mail account and a prepaid internet card.

There also too other ways that ebay should investigate and explore to avoid multiple accounts and make the seller feel safe selling to a 0 feedback buyer.

2. The lack of buyer education when you buy first time. The 0 feedback buyers don't know how the system works! They expect item will arrive to them in 2-3 days because they do not understand what does it mean that the seller ships in "2 bussiness days" and what is delivery date. The do not even check descriptions or condition of an item. Ebay needs a starting guide to prepare a new buyer. It may be video, it may be flash it may be everything but ebay needs to educate first time buyers!

If the buyer does not know how to use ebay and be familiar with it; this creates issues to sellers starting from refunds up to unfair negatives.

If you cancel the sale to a 0 feedback buyer, and they leave a neg, would that be unfair?

I'm really curious what these sellers are selling that are doing all the cancellations do they all have a lot of things in common or are these regular sellers like the rest of us?

I rarely if ever get a cancellation request. Of course I had to get one today.

The seller wrote  that she purchased the necklace in error because her fingers were too fat????

Oh thats priceless!

I think what the Op was talking about was sellers who cancel without buyer request, be it OOS or just not wanting to sell to that buyer ect

Re: Sellers PLEASE stop canceling sales!

I am easy going... and IF a new seller contacts me that they made a mistake and listed an auction at 0.99 free shipping .... it doesn't bother me if they cancel.... If you should know better and start something at 0.99 free shipping and don't get the price you want.... that is on you.

What I really hate that is happening a lot to me lately is winning a great item really cheap, I didn't list your item starting at 0.99 free shipping.... and they send it in an envelop with little protection when it should have been shipped in a box, resulting in a great vintage item being destroyed.... I would rather they would have cancelled.

And a warning all the sellers cancelling auctions with lies or doing things to get around the OOS defect (shipping any old junk to avoid the OOS) eBay will respond with new policies to counteract these shenanigans.... such as a Neg is a defect again.... and no one should complain and blame eBay when it happens.

There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy.

Re: Sellers PLEASE stop canceling sales!

Had one of these last week.  First in all my time here.  No contact from the seller at all, just a system message.  Very large seller (you may have seen their catalogs in airline seat backs).  Small tech item, priced well below other sellers.  Not sure if they ran out or realized a pricing error.  They got what they deserved though.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Re: Sellers PLEASE stop canceling sales!

@mistressmime  I only cancel upon request from the Buyer, doesn't happen too often.  I have yet to cancel because I inadvertantly lost, damaged or accidently Relisted (a sold) item ... hope it never happens but if it does I would not hesitate to Cancel and advise the Buyer of what happened.

I completly agree, eBay with its buyercentric policies has created this issue.

Not to mention the entire issue with new sellers using the eBay app and being told it's okay to ship when the E check has not cleared yet. A large number of new sellers are using the app rather than using a PC. I think the problem is only going to get worse before it gets better because eBay tends to deny the issue

Re: Sellers PLEASE stop canceling sales!

I state in Caps. "US Shipping" only, yet have had last two listings awarded to folks that then respond with: "Gee, I didn't read the description, please ship to "Timbucktoo"....unacceptable.

There appears to be zero consequence for someone who misleads on shipping address. Thus, I'm sure they will continue to do it and folks will continue to "cancel"....and eventaully find other ways to sell.....

Re: Sellers PLEASE stop canceling sales!

like we live in the real world.  And I think the cancelling thing is not the problem.  The problem is already stated. resellers.  That needs to stop!  Sellers that have similair product but are being under cut and dont like it. That is a problem. This past week I have had 3 non payment from 0 feedback buyers.  I had one untill then.  Having a product sit around and waite for that 0 buyer to pay.  I have since changed my selling to buy only.  No best offer No Auctions.  Sad because usually those things generate interest.  If Ebay is becoming a resellers business model perhaps its time to move my small business else where.  My remedy to this this.  If buyer puts in your best offer. buyer should put in their financial info.  If seller excepts then accounts is automatically charged.  Same for Auctions.  I dont understand why Ebay has failed to do this.  Sad what is happening
