Seller phone number

Can I provide my Seller phone number to an eBay customer that has already purchased?

When they contact me for questions or tech support, it is often easier to talk on the phone.

The only reason I would ever give out my number would be for tech support on the radio communication device they purchase. This would only be if they contact me with issues (after installing it) and need tech support.

I have been giving the number out, however; wanted to make sure it’s not something eBay has just overlooked and will, in the future, realize it and penalize me for it.

thanks for that feedback.

You are doing fine and just offering great customer service.  It is good to see.  Just always be on guard for them asking too much from you and then recap that in an email through Ebay and try to get them to confirm what you have said in the email for your protection.

We are all allowed, buyers and sellers, to exchange contact information with someone we have a current transaction with.  I believe that is defined by in the last 30-60 days, but I'm not positive on the timeframe.  It wouldn't be shorter, but it could be a bit longer, but not past 90 days.

Yes, you can provide contact information after the sale. You also often get a customer phone number with the address.

I think it's best to only communicate with your customers via the Ebay platform.  There is no reason for you provide a phone number.  Many people come here and ask sellers to text them, provide their Paypal account to pay them and ship to another address not provided by the ones that ebay provides.  That is a sign of a scam attempt.  Did Ebay send you a notice to ship the item thru your seller hub?  Send it only to the address on the invoice or you will not be covered in the event of non receipt.

Please keep your eyes wide.  Its the holidays season and the scammers are out there in droves.

Good luck and happy holidays.

@cbradiospronto  You can also find the buyer's phone number on the View Order details page. Either on the right side of the page, or the left where there's a drop down menu for View Buyer's info.

With tech items, it is often more productive to speak with a person to troubleshoot than trying to play catch-up on the messaging. We have had buyers who needed to get the item up-and-running asap, or the person onsite did not have access to the buyer's ebay account to view messages.

You can message your phone number to them on ebay after the sale. I always make sure to keep the same thread where the buyer asked for some type of help. As ckimodog cautioned - there are lots of scammers, especially this time of year.

Why not include a business card in the packages when you send out your items?

People throw it away. I even stamp the shipping box and that gets thrown away.

I had a look at what you're selling and having dabbled in the days before ebay and the internet with them  I can see why, if they are having a problem setting it up, you'd want them to give you a call. **bleep** easy for a novice or bonehead to destroy one with improper install, I can imagine getting some returns as a result.  I agree there are times when you'd want a buyer to give you a call.

Maybe have a small sticker made that says "for technical support or set up assistance call cbradiospronto at  <your phone number>  and attach it to the bottom of the units.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Yes, you can.  It's not against ebay policy.

Only prior to a sale, as that is interpreted as attempting to take the sale away from eBay's platform.  Once you've completed a sale, it's perfectly allowable.
