Seller claims wrong address

Seller won auction early December. I shipped the item using the eBay provided label, presumably generated with the address registered with the buyer. UPS says item delivered 12/12. Because the estimated shipping cost was higher than the actual cost, this week I partially refunded some of the shipping cost back to the seller as a nice gesture.

Today I receive a notice that the seller has open a request claiming that they have not received the item because it was shipped to the wrong address.

Do they have a valid claim? Isn't it the responsibility of the buyer to insure that the address associated with their account is correct? Shouldn't using the eBay provided label shield me from such claims? TIA

Seller claims wrong address

No, the buyer does not have a valid claim. You must, however, enter the tracking number of the delivered package into the buyer's case--even though eBay already has it, you must do this!

As long as you've shipped the package to the address the buyer used as the "ship to" address at checkout, you're covered.

If you'd like, you could contact the buyer and encourage them to check with other family/household members, neighbors, etc., to see if someone put the package in a safe place.

yes and they will..........they may refund the buyer as a goodwill gesture.......but you should not be charged for any refund.  Be SURE to answer the refund request with the info that it was shipped to the address provided and with the tracking #,  pointing out it has been delivered........
