I won a model kit auction on the 25th of September and paid for it the next day. On the 3rd of October I get this email from the seller:

If you got your money back we would consider a leaving a neutral feedback. Best regards

Go ahead and leave the negative feedback, for poor communication. If the seller wants to, they can send you a request to revise the negative feedback. Then you can demand a full update on what they have done to get the item back, before you revise the feedback. I predict they will get back to you immediately. Generally even when sellers ignore my messages, they get back to me within about 5 or 10 minutes after I leave negative feedback. They are too busy to respond to messages, but I have never seen a seller who was too busy to send a a request to revise feedback.
I strongly urge you not to DEMAND anything in exchange for a feedback revision. Ebay is very strict about enforcing the feedback extortion policy. Feedback is a tool please don't use it as a weapon. It will backfire on you.

Good point. I wasn't suggesting that the seller literally demand. Change that from demand to request the seller give an update on what steps they have taken to get the item back.
I have found feedback to be a very good weapon to get the attention of sellers. This is how I typically use it.
Seller: Hi I see that you gave me negative feedback. I'm on vacation right now. That is why I didn't respond to your messages. Could you please revise your feedback? I'm going to get that item shipped out to you as soon as I get back.
Me: Sure no problem. I'll revise the feedback, as soon as I get the item.

These things happen. A lot of people here suggesting the seller is trying to cancel the sale to relist in the future. Speculation and assumption generally are not supported by a lot of factual imformation. The seller indicates that a mistake has been made with money refunded. They have provided a reason for a cancellation. I can understand your frustration that you didn't receive your model. Personally I would check some of the feedback others have left for this seller before leaving a negative. If there are other negative feedbacks or indications in positive feedback that this type of thing keeps happening, then go ahead and leave the negative. But if the selller has a history of providing good service and a good product then what's the purpose of leaving a negative feedback for a one time error? Had the seller not returned your money immediately by stringing you along then negative feedback might be in order. Hope you can find what you looking for, Christmas is around the corner and maybe Santa will help you out 🙂
