I sell on eBay and love supporting members on eBay by buying from eBay. This is the first time I have had this response from a member. A seller had a listing for mailbox numbers and I did not realize that I had to choose specific numbers. The listing was not clear to me and I paid for the item thinking I would be receiving 0-9 numbers. Instead of sending me a message explaining what I needed to do, I received a message from eBay that I have a refund from the seller "I canceled" of which I never did. I sent the seller a message saying the listing was not clear and wish they had the courtesy to explain instead of just canceling my order. The seller responded " Well as a seller you would also understand customers who can't read listing description and follow instructions are more liable to leave bad feendback (sic) for not reading and fully understanding something before buying it. Have a good day" (with a smiling image). That is the exact quote. So I guess insulting me is the way to go. I really am not "liable to leave bad feendback" or feedback that is not something I do.

That seller is overly sensitive and doesn't sound like someone you should be spending your money with. Take their unnecessarily irate response as a good thing because it led you away from any of their future listings. Go find better mailbox numbers from a more deserving seller. Best of luck to you....

Truly awful customer service. Hopefully that seller will give it up soon before he or she drives shoppers away from eBay.
So stupid too to lose a sale by not sending a template email explaining how you need to choose the numbers - I'm sure that situation has come up before.

You may be averse to leaving poor feedback, but this was an unprofessional seller.

I'm adverse to leaving negative feedback as well but in this case I would report to eBay that YOU did not ask to cancel the order but rather the seller did.
Sellers using bogus reasons to cancel so they can avoid defects or even if it's to avoid buyers they MIGHT be more inclined to leave a neg are bad for eBay in general (drives away buyers) and might in the future prompt eBay to get even more restrictive about order cancellations.
Into your life it will creep

Oh dang that seller was way out of line. Too many people have cabin fever or something right now as I've gotten some real charming emails from some buyers recently too. I think the state of the world is driving many of us a bit crazy and we are taking it out on people that we never should do that to.
But even with that, this person is running a little business and there is no excuse for that kind of message to a buyer or a fellow seller. Especially in light of them BREAKING and Ebay rule in how they processed the cancellation. And you REALLY need to report them for that. I get it that you may not want to hit their FB, I understand that, but you really need to report them for improper use of the cancellation system and rude and an unwarranted email. That I firmly believe you should do as they will do this gain to someone else that may not take it as well as you did.
Sellers like this give us all a bad name. PLEASE report them.

I would not be surprised should you find that you have been included onto this seller's blocked buyer list.

Did you send a questioning message before he canceled? How did he know you misunderstood the listing as a reason to cancel? Did you not chose the numbers?
Certainly disapprove of what the seller said and did......
But have to say he obviously was being honest......I've read many posts on this board that say people are going to cancel for like reasons.........questions/not understanding the listing, etc.

These are the kind of attitudes we don't need here, and I mean the seller.
Unfortunately it looks to be the small individual type, maybe they were having a bad day however the perfect maneuver's orchestration leads me to believe this is the seller's SOP.
That being said I have learned to at least peruse the description as that tends to give me a better idea of the type of seller I am dealing with, it's not even about the item itself but the personality of that seller often comes out in the description. Because sellers like yours, some will have comments to the effect of "don't even think about blablabla" (or what have you) and when I see that I go looking elsewhere. By reading the description I have passed up a sale simply because I didn't like the presentation and that is how I am at least partly successful in avoiding the loonies.
Can't win them all but I definitely learned to read listings, how I find my sellers that fit my personality the best.

1.This seller's reply is speculative, assumes facts not in evidence, " liable to leave bad feedback"
2. Seller dishonest in advising ebay buyer requested cancellation.
3. Seller needs to comply with eBay rules & policies, pay eBay a fvf & receive a defect

Report and move on. There are plenty of other good sellers selling the same product.
You seem like a reasonable person, you deserve better.

I'm not the buyer
Seller certainly is Not honest is selecting buyer requested, when the buyer did not do so.
Seller owes eBay payment of a fvf
Reasons for seller cancellations
Out of stock
Buyer request
Problem with buyer address

sorry.........I was unclear......he certainly wasn't honest in the reason for canceling (or canceling at all)........I meant his comments were honest as why he was doing what he was doing...........
