Seller Initiated (Unsolicited) Offers now last longer than 48 hours?

Exactly as the title says ...

Is this a new update? Seller initiated discount offers (sent to "interested buyers") used to expire after 48 hours. Now I'm seeing outstanding offers lasting as long as 96 hours.

I know eBay did something with regards to how buyers accept the offers and the item isn't "sold" until it's been paid for ... but I don't see anything suggesting these offers have been accepted and just not paid for yet. Is this all a part of that system now though? Did the 48 hour offer window extend to 96 hours to match the payment window?

I guess then my follow up question to that would be ... is it basically set up where the offer is valid for 96 hours and you must pay before the offer expires? Or can a buyer accept the offer and then a new "clock" starts and the buyer has 96 hours to pay?

I'm so confused, LOL

ETA: A few people seem to misunderstand ... I'm making no statement or complaint about buyer payments or the timeliness of payments or unpaid items. This was about how long listings are "locked out" with regard to edits or sending further offers to additional interested buyers.

Yeah we talked about it the other day.

Sad news.

Locking up items for 96 hours hurts for me.

 I don't send offers, but I also don't think they get locked up either. I was under the impression they are still live until paid for

Which is worse, being "locked up" under the new system for 96 hours

or

Having the buyer accept the offer but not pay which means you have to wait 96 hours to cancel AND in the meantime nobody else can buy and pay for your item (maybe be at full price or at the offer price if they also received one).

To clarify my use of locking up.

To add all those padlock images to almost all parts to revise listing.

I'd much rather they accept offer and not pay.

I can still adjust my listings that way.

Also it adds to my 'Sold' counter regardless if they pay or not.

@ryry-jj

"Locked up" (referring to revisions) is exactly what you have with open Offers. Correct, they're live until paid for.

FWIW, @wastingtime101 tagged Kyle yesterday about the pitfalls. He was going to check on it. Bummer, though...

Easily the worst idea they've come up with yet

I'd rather have them not pay. At least you can relist. Can't edit a listing after sending an offer for four days is really stupid

@slippinjimmy

Worst case... the buyer accepts at 95 hours, 59 seconds and you cancel for non-payment 96 hours, one second later. ðŸ˜‘

Can't edit while offer is in limbo

Why are they changing things when there are tech issues that need to be resolved. I've seen more tech glitch posts in the last 3 months than the last 15 years together.

What makes it worst is for when you have say 20 inventory or however much.

If they don't accept or deny that one person locks all 20.

If they accept and don't pay say for 1, you can still adjust your listing for the 19 other.

However that one offer can lock the entire listing now for 96 hours.

They need to be fixing the problems that a lot of sellers are having with sending offers. Ever since the update sending offers has been glitchy EVERY day.

Ebay is just on some kick to extend things for buyers.

They just did the increased cancellation.

Watch Ebay MBG moving to 60 days.
