Seller Hub Active Listings, Orders, Overview - design changes rolling out

Mentioned in my post of Seller Check In Highlights from about 6 weeks ago:

Chuck [Van Pelt] shared sneak preview screenshots of upcoming changes to the Seller Hub Orders page and Active Listings page surrounding search/filter navigation on Active listings, features to more easily access repeat buyer history on Orders, and more. I strongly encourage everybody to watch their networking session.

Here's that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZeU_ynzUAY

I heard from a seller that has the new view today, at least for Active listings. I forgot to ask him about the Orders page. (In the video I loved what eBay did with repeat buyers on the Orders page.)

With my buddy's permission I'm posting screenshots from his new Active Listings view compared to the old view which most of us are still seeing. Green line is the divider. Top = current soon to be old view | Bottom = new view

Disclaimer: These images are from different computers and browsers, probably with different zoom settings, so don't assume that because the bottom one looks so tiny compared to the top that it actually is. I'm showing the comparison so you can see the changes in function and how everything is in a slightly different place under a more compact view with new filter buttons.

That's because @lacshirle-8 when eBay opted in the latest round of sellers last week, they broke categories for everybody.

If your Store categories have sub-categories, they will not appear in the categories filter. It's been impossible to get any work done since this happened last week.

That link has a post from an eBay rep with a tech ticket number. You can contact customer service and ask them to add your account to that ALERT number.

I don't know if this is another tech error or another design flaw kyle@ebay devon@ebay .

The search box says: Search by title, SKU, or item number

It's not pulling in items when I search by SKU.

Can you find out if SKU refers to the "Custom SKU" field as one would assume? Or is SKU actually referring to something different like UPC?

Can you also find out if searching by SKU is including variations?

They also added the option to search by description, but you have to choose it as a separate selection - you can't just type in the search box and have it search title, SKU, item number and description all at once.

I'm ready to bash my head through a wall with this ridiculously inefficient navigation menu, particularly with the fact the Categories filter is hidden behind All Filters while eBay sticks Listings With Watchers in a prominent place outside of All Filters. It's so freaking backwards, illogical and inefficient.

Not to mention the current tech issue where we can't even filter by category when we use subcategories. It's been happening since what - last Thurs? And it's still not fixed.

This is not the type of stress sellers need at the start of Holiday. 😡

I did more testing @dhbookds and it's not picking up Variation SKUs. Major problem - that's pretty much all of my inventory.

Yep. The last release we had that was this bad was the "unified listing tool," which still stinks and has variations in the wrong spot (they need to be above item specifics).

Kyle, Devon, PLEASE tell is they are going to change this. Everyone hates it, its not a tech issue its a design issue, theres dozens of threads in case you didnt already know, its a terribly inefficient design

Looks to me like a minimalist designed this UI -- you know, the kind of person whose kitchen counter looks like no one ever uses the kitchen, with the paper towels and wooden spoons in cupboards and drawers so nothing is readily accessible.

Shoddy workmanship from their web programmers and poor customer relations from the ebay staff. The huge amount of money in fee’s and they treat us like garbage. Computer Programmers are taught not to have excessive clicks in their programming. I remember the incident well when the college professor shouted at me: Don’t prompt the user. Make it  automatic. The purpose of the software is to do the work and make it easy. What ebay has done is make the process excessively complicated and difficult with excessive Clicks, excessive pages, excessive links to find the information needed. The information should have been on the current page, and not somewhere else. I am seeing the absence of needed Tool Tips. The functionality of the pages, the options hidden, that need to be enabled, somehow, it’s not always easy to figure out, it’s just garbage web programming, thrown together haphazardly without proper thought and consideration. In the early days of Computer Programming it was customer to use a Flow. With ebay that Flow Chart is all over the place and has dead ends. They are supposed to do Beta Testing. Each and every function needs to be tested before releasing Live to the User. It’s interesting to read in the Link you provided, some of the same types of issues presented. At least I am not the only one who noticed how terrible ebay coding has become. It is not Intuitive or User Friendly at all. Excessively complex and convoluted and has some errors in their code.

@pf9000

You're absolutely right. eBay developers should have been sitting side-by-side (so to speak) with users to make any changes in the UI and perfect it over a period of testing before rolling it out.

We now have the new unimproved versions of the unsold and scheduled pages and can't figure out how to make it search. There is no button and clicking on the magnifying icon in the box or open space does nothing.

And apparently 'table' is ebay new name for 'column'
