Seller Blocks Buyer in Error

I have a situation where the Seller appears to have blocked me in error.  I believe this because I have had all positive feedback for her and from her.  Now I can't contact her because this Seller does not answer questions.  I called eBAY and they said the ONLY thing they can do is send a courtesy email which is 'generic'.  I have no guarantee that she will even read that email.  I see this as a bad policy by eBAY when it won't support the buyer who has a stellar record.

Some just can't accept that a seller could actually make a simple honest mistake from time to time.  I don't know why, but it seems to be true.

I was surprised when another poster implied that I'm a bad seller because of one simple mistake. I think it's amazing I don't make more mistakes considering the volume I handle.

Everybody has an opinion - some believe it's unforgivable if a seller makes a mistake. There's nothing you or I can do about that.

Again, you are absolutely correct.

I would call eBay and complain to anyone who listen if a CSR call me regarding taking somebody off my blocked list. Sometimes customers think they are excellent customers and they really aren't.

From asking for returns and refunds, to being overly chatty, to being down right needy.

take this opportunity to reflect upon your interactions with this seller, and then don't do any of the things that might have made them block you to new sellers.

And STOP CALLING EBAY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT NON ISSUES!

I am not a seller and never have been.  I have always paid when I win an auction and have always given positive  feedback.  I never had words or even a conversation with this Seller so I stand by my premises that this seller blocked me in error.  It is too bad that neither ebay or this Seller want to listen to me.

Wait, so you were able to contact the seller!  What did they say?

Thank you for your post. You seem to be the only one who believes me that this can happen. You are correct that there is nothing I can do (even ebay was no help).

I'm not the only one.  There were several posters that said the seller could have made an error.  And that remains true, they could have.  Sellers are NOT robots, we make errors from time to time, just like any other human being whether they want to admit it or not.

With that said, you said that your seller won't listen to you.  Does that mean you were able to get in contact with them?  What did they say?

It might be that the seller is simply not accepting questions about anything, from anyone. If possible, maybe you could get a friend with a different account to send the seller some innocuous question about one of their items and see if it gets through. If not, that could indicate that the seller has completely turned off the Ask Seller a Question function for their listings (regardless of the sender). Note that you won't discover this until you actually hit the Send button. You will get the ASQ window regardless, and will be able to type in your message as usual. Only hitting Send will tell you whether the seller is accepting questions.

(I only ever encountered this once, and it was by a seller who had some glaring, bonehead mistake in his description that would definitely not end well for him. My well-intentioned effort to alert him was blocked. Oh, well, maybe he just didn't believe anyone else who must have been telling him the same thing, and got tired of hearing about it.)

If the root problem is that you're actually blocked (e.g. from bidding), then Yes, it's personal. Smiley Wink

I don't think anything like that was remotely suggested or implied by any poster on this thread.

Well if you think she's not answering your messages because your messages are also blocked, and if it's driving you crazy that you can't find the answer to why she bocked you, and if you're losing so much sleep over it that you're starting to snore even while you're awake, then you could always ask an ebay buddy of yours to send her a message on your behalf. She might not appreciate it, but you never know.

That's where I was coming from.  Even just one contact after you have been blocked may seem like harassment (you are not accepting the fact that you are blocked) to the seller who put you there intentionally.

I suppose there are those ultra sensitive people out there, but if a seller reacts that way from a politely stated question, then the problem is really the sellers.  Just because it "seems" like harassment to some does not make it so as I previously described.

Always a good idea to take steps to protect yourself.

As an aside, harassment is in the eyes of the beholder.  No one can say how a simple message would be viewed by the seller who has already indicated they don't want to do business with you.

I don't block many IDs now, since I feel it has the potential to do more harm than good and ebay has tweaked how they handle this anyway.   Having another ask on your behalf wouldn't bother me as a seller, but if that seller is like me, I can't recall why many of mine are even on there.  If sellers just try typing the IDs into their list (rather than c&p) then mistakes could easily happen, and I'd certainly want to know if I did that.   I've actually considered deleting the whole thing since they date back years.

No it isn't.  The word has a definition.  Just because you may feel you are harrassed doesn't mean you are being harrassed.  However you shouldn't be made to feel that way.  But if someone feels harrassed by a simple, polite question, then that someone may need to try and figure out why as it makes no sense.

You are assuming the seller didn't make a mistake in the first place and NONE of us knows that.
