A customer messaged me that his pineapple gummy bears are melted.
I'm going to refund him and don't want them back.
Which would be the better route to take?
A) Refund him.
B) Have his start a INAD return then refund him without requiring him to return the product?
I was thinking B so that there would be some kind of record of his INAD in case he is a chronic INAD returner, ebay should know about it so he can't continue doing it to others.

...anyone wants any kind of refund has to open a return with me.
I want them to either go away or go on record as returning something.

Not if you do not use the eBay phone app, which I do not.
takes less or the same time using a computer.

You did not wait for my advice?! 🤔🤣

Don't ask for photos, it's not a requirement; and refund without a claim.
Its been my experience in this life that people don't lie about something as serious as melted gummy bears, especially the pineapple variety.

Refund him and move on. What if you got a negative feedback? Would you be OK with that? It wasn't an expensive item. Mainland USA is having a heatwave....not sure where item was shipped.

You can't refund the tax because you never received it.

It's hot all over the country, but esp. LA. I would have refunded - with or without - pictures. My daughter lives in Los Angeles, very hot days there. I sent her a box of her favorite candy, Marzipan, a few days ago. I was so worried it would be a melted mess when it arrived .. but she had a stressful week & just wanted to send something she really likes.
Ordered from Amazon ( many reviews for melted candy) but I watched that package the day it was delivered & let her know the minute it arrived, so she could bring it right in. She said it wasn't melted, at least that's what she told her mama! 🙂 But I would have believed your buyer, without question. It's good that you sent the refund, I'm sure that helped the situation. Doubtful that he was lying. Why not avoid the negative, if you can.

I'm sure you have calculated in your business model possible losses. If the Buyer says the candy melted, probably it did. It's summer. I would just refund the Buyer, and move on.

It doesn't start to rain in San Francisco until maybe November. We are not a part of California....we have Mediterranean weather...boring in the 50-60 degrees every darn day.

I'm having a brain fart and would probably have erred by having my buyer file a return. If you just refund (without a return being opened) do you have to give a reason? I'm assuming that receiving a defect wouldn't come into the situation? I also thought refunding through a return would protect against bad feedback, if that was a worry. I sure wouldn't want to suggest such a thing if I had several on my record, though.

Refund and move on. Make note of the buyer. No need to block, yet.

Things melt in Pennsylvania. Not that I live there but...they'd melt in New York, so being a tad south, yeah....they'll probably melt there too. Maybe a bit faster. It's all due to climate change.
