See ya eBay! You've just lost a 15 year Buyer/Seller.

Ebay seriously does a poor job of protecting its buyers from scammers and cheats and unfortunately there are far too many of them out there these days.  I've had an impeccable selling record since I opened my account over 15 years ago but all of that meant absolutely NOTHING when one decided to pull me through the ringer over an item that she clearly damaged AND wore! I learned to photograph all of my shipments as they are being packed but was not allowed to submit any of it into evidence when a claim was lodged against me. Thankfully it was not a very expensive item, but I take this as a warning of what could be. I sell both high and low end merch. Had it been a high-end couture piece I would've been devistated. When I contacted customer support, the woman over the phone couldn't have cared any less about my impecable selling record nor did she even try to help me to submit any evidence to support my end of the story. When I told her that I was done with eBay her response was pretty much, 'oh well.' Talk about adding insult to injury. I will be taking my business elsewhere moving forward.

Can any other site do that?

Man I have no idea what you're peddling so I don't know??? That doesn't add much to what I said.

From a customer service support standpoint you should bring this up in the Weekly Chat, the eBay Team should know about that find of attitude being projected loud and clear by their paid help.

Great! I sincerely hope you don't encounter any issues but sadly there's an army of us who have. Things are and have been good for you so who cares, right? Isn't that what you're esentially saying? WTG.

While I typically love your posts, I think you’re being just a teensy bit naive here.

year after year after year after year I’ve read all about evil CSR’s on these boards and I’ve also encountered them first hand.

This won’t be any type of a stunning revelation to them, as Ebay knows all about their hostile CSR’s- IMHO-  it’s how they want them.

Re: See ya eBay! You've just lost a 15 year Buyer/Seller.

Loss in retail sales business is always about the most frustrating *hurt* to have to swallow when you're in business, and it doesn't matter whether it happens to you in your own little brick & mortar store on main street or a selling account you're working on eBay.  Shoplifting theft, unfair return demands on damaged merchandise, hidden breakage of merchandise discovered when you take physical inventory.. any loss diminishes you unless you have it covered in a way that doesn't take it out of YOUR pocket.

Most sellers/stores add a speck to the price of each item of merchandise they sell, which is set aside in a ledger column or sugar bowl, and as the buyers make their purchases, this amount builds.  Those sales (buyers) are all kicking in a bit extra to pay the damages some buyer causes by cheating in some manner.

These types of financial losses aren't borne by the seller or the store out of their OWN pockets but are covered in merchandise pricing and paid for a bit at a time by all the combined customers.  Many sellers here operate their stores or selling accounts this same way.  Ebay isn't going to make it good for you very often.  They almost always back a buyer in a *seller said/buyer said* situation.  It's a lot easier to have to swallow if you know you have that little pot of financial coverage for losses of this type.  And a bit easier to come to terms with if you know.... "it's part of being in retail sales" as the saying goes.

You know we can see WHEN you ended it? You only ended it after I posted.

Personally I think you'll be back and that this is just a vent/whine session, otherwise, you'd have just left with no drama, no post, no need to justify yourself

Well my opinion is that this was not a necessary thing to post to the OP. First of all it has nothing to do with her post. Secondly, what pleasure did you derive out of your post??? Jeepers.

No disrespect meant.

But the way i figure it is if you had 25 Million Dollars and you lost $1.00, would you stress over it ?

  • This is what i found when i Googled:
eBay announced in 2015 that it has 25 million sellers on its platform.Jul 31, 2016

Sadly you have a point, and a point well made. The cards are very much stacked in ebay's favour, from this forum, to the way they allow scammers (both seller & buyer) to operate almost at will.

Trust and safety?...WHAT trust?, and certainly NO safety, again, for seller OR buyer.

Okay, so Mr L fell off his rocker again ... I guess on a certain level it would be interesting to see these kind of reoccuring theme threads posted there instead of here in "hopes" that something positive might come of it ... but perhaps that is just some wishful thinking on my part.

We noticed too,  Smiley Very Happy  but she can pop them back *active* later if she decides to, or leave, or just take a break for awhile, or whatever feel right as a few days/weeks pass.  Many of us takes breaks from selling on a regular basis.  I'd burn out if I kept it going this many years in a row.  Seems like sales has been in my blood since I was a little kid makin' stuff and trying to peddle it door to door in my neighborhood.   The first eBay store I ever got was just for that invisible vacation mode they offered!  I thought, "Just what I need!"

You must be a hit at parties! Believe what you want. And yes, I ended a listing that I honestly didn't know was still up. Ended 5 prior to that immediately AFTER I posted the initial thread. I put this out there for the same reason anyone else did. If enough of us vocalize our gripes maybe...just maybe it'll help someone else (in the way other posts helped me) realize that this is an ongoing, serious issue that needs attention. Maybe  something will be done about it, maybe not. But, by all means feel free to keep tabs on my lack of selling/purchasing.
