Very surprised there has been no discussion about the huge glitch to the other e-site funneling hundreds and thousands of dollars out of sellers checking accounts and charging their credit cards huge sums of money that was not owed over the weekend. Very scary when you consider they use the same Managed Payments Processor Ayden. Sorry but I do not have the link from Ecommercbytes but it is a MUST READ!

That's it thank you, the comments are very disturbing and makes me hold my breath. I have a presence over there and have been winding down because I do not like all the changes in the past year or two. Thank GOD I was not one of the ones affected. I feel very badly for all those that were.

I feel badly for them, too. It's a worst nightmare scenario to be sure. It's exactly what many fear could happen. I thank God you weren't one of them~and it's not something that is a quick fix situation, or without ramifications because of those errors.

You realize that Adyen has nothing to do with that fiasco over there. That's all on Etsy.

No honestly I have no idea who is at fault, I mean obviously Betsy is at fault but I don't know the how and why of how that all could have happened. I know they opted me in to Auto-pay without my consent and changed my default settings after 6 years of paying 1x a month like I do here. I just went and unchecked my bill payment back to MANUAL. Very sneaky and very unprofessional how something like that happened and I am sure it could happen here as well.

I pulled the few listings I had had over there and (hopefully) removed my CC info.
I always thought it was weird how they held on to my meager sales proceeds for days, yet charged my credit card .20 at a time for each new listing. Money flow problems?
I might eventually go back, but no real reason to....

All Adyen does is process the payment. They pass it directly from the buyer to the client. They don't hold it or have access to it otherwise. Adyen doesn't know the seller from Adam's housecat.
The payment goes directly from the buyer to the client, in this case Etsy. Etsy is the one who holds the money and the one who distributes the money. They are the ones with the seller's info. They are the ones who screwed up somehow. Incompetence? Disgruntled employee? Hacked? Who knows...and I'm sure Etsy won't go into any details aside from a lame apology to those that were affected.

Yep.

When former eBay Exec Silverman took over Etsy a little over a year ago, I wasn't surprised.
A number of years ago, I said to friends, "Etsy is on eBay's radar now. They can't afford to buy it out, so what they'll probably do is infiltrate the Board of Directors. It's cheaper."
I may even have mentioned it on this forum after the eBay Meet-and-Greet (when Donahoe was still prez) where some of the eBay sellers mentioned Etsy and Donahoe did a double-take (Etsy had escaped his notice).
I guess it's all falling into place, with emphasis on the word "falling".

A good reason why I, like many others,
use a totally different bank and bank account linked to our online sales and purchases.
That way, 'mistake's can't touch your real money.
