Scammed out of High Value Item

I sold an item for $2k that shipped in two large boxes.  One part was indestructible solid piece of metal, the other a TV display.

Weeks later, I was on vacation and didn't notice the eBay messages.  Apparently the buyer complained that both boxes were damaged and within 4 days, eBay awarded them a full refund.

Less than one week later, I'm "appealing" and eBay says that I cannot since I failed to reply within 4 days.  I might add that it was over a weekend.

I've attempted to contact the seller to no avail. Is there any recourse?

You can submit A Notice of Dispute. Not sure if ebay will overturn their decision but you do have that option available by ebay.

Indeed, I do intend on obtaining it back from the Buyer.  At least at that point I'd be whole.

It was signed for and apparently basic insurance; it's small but something.  Unfortunately, the Buyer is not responding at all.

Maybe they are on vacation.

Off topic but these posts are hard to read.  Has anyone tried a work around such as the delete key to get the sentences closer together?

Re: Scammed out of High Value Item

I highly suspect that the Buyer is falsifying the damage. Nevertheless, I don't have a concern about the money back guarantee. I am willing to accept paying for the return of the item. At this point the Buyer has gone dark.

It's troubling that eBay is unwilling to provide ANY correspondence to assist with resolution beyond 4 days when I had no communication tools.  Moreover it's disappointing that eBay still charges considerable Seller fees.

FYI- I spoke to the Buyers boss, an owner of the company and affirmed that the Buyer is working.   I do feel for them as they are in the midst of the hurricane, nevertheless, the buyer is actually travelling on work.  Coincidentally, I believe he's nearby me at a local convention.

It is when you agree to their terms when you decide to sell here.

Want to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Independence Day.
