Been an ordeal for the last 1/2 of April and I was ecstatic to have sold my sigma lense but I’m positive even the buyer was part of the scam.
I have a bunch of photos but he gave me his personal information (Twitter, email and phone) and for some reason that message wasn’t flagged and he even asked me for my “full credentials” which I didn’t give any.
there was a 2nd account that asked me to send it to a different address because “ was moving due to work issues” so I sent it to that address. Buyer claims that he did not receive the item then requests a refund so I lose out on my money and I have to pay the sellers fee which is stupid.
Then made a claim through eBay saying how these people we’re scammers and they just took my lense away and I lost money now and then my claim got denied and I running low on options on what to do.
i have a tracking number and saying it was delivered but no signature. Called UPS and filled out an IC3 form (supposed to be tied with the FBI or something) I even sent screen shots to eBay spoof.
if there’s ANY help you can give I’d greatly appreciate it

For your protection, ALWAYS ship to the address provided with payment.

forgot to preface, I sold the item April 12th and the account was made April 13th.
As I stated I have a bunch of photos so let me know if there’s any y’all want to see so that it might help my case. Let me know if you can see the photo I sent to the top.

I know I made that mistake and that’s what they told me. Am I really out of luck on this?

You have to accept responsibility for falling for the ruse. It sounds like 2 scammers found you. The first is the one who texted, second is the one who requested the change of address.
1. Never text anyone your personal information. All communication should be through ebay.
2. Never ship to an address that is different from that which ebay shows as the "ship to" address in the order.
3. Signature wouldn't have been required for you to have protection against INR (as the total payment was <$750) so if you'd shipped to the address in the payment shown through ebay (if payment was made), you would have protection.
4. If you didn't get a notice from ebay that said, "okay to ship," you didn't get paid at all. I'm assuming you received a fake PP receipt after sending your information to the scammer.
Sadly, you did get scammed.

Yes, unfortunately, you are SOL.

If you did not ship to the buyer but were duped into shipping to an alternate address by someone that created an account the day after the sale just to scam you, then there likely is nothing to be done "on eBay" to help you.

Sounds like the scammer was the one who talked you into sending to a different address. Now you owe the real buyer their money.
Sorry, but you should never change an address even if they beg you to. You lose seller protection. Always ship to the address in the order.

Sounds to me like both accounts were scammers.
The first trying to go off ebay to twitter etc.
There may be NO 'real buyer'. The OP may not have even been paid.

That’s the thing the buyer isn’t even real I’m 99% sure. Opened an account that day or after the item was sold, gave “personal information” and I even looked up the church he was affiliated with and isn’t even in the states.

If you didn't check you were actually paid, then you may not have been.
The "second account" that changed the address - how do you even know that was the same person as the first account?

The funds went through and were on hold. I didn’t send it until the funds said they were on hold because I thought eBay would need to confirm that the item was sent.

Okay, so at least we know the original buyer was actually a real buyer.
But why did you follow the directions to change the address that was from a "second account"? Did you not check the User ID was the same?
eta: Hang on . Case is closed? What case?

I still don’t think he’s real because he messaged me on another account for screen shots.
I sent it to a different address because the other account stated it was a relative and that they were moving
