I have recently sold a product and they first asked me to go through the PayPal app even though you can pay on PayPal through eBay. They then asked me to buy a 300$ apple gift card and ship it to them with the package. He said he would pay extra for gas/inconvenience and shipping(75$total) and then he said he was a marine . He then said he paid and I got a email that said I need to email customerpayment.center@mail.com pictures of the scratched off gift card to receive the full payment from him for the 300$ gift card and the item I was selling. I’m suspicious and I need to be sure that they’re trying to scam me

Big Scam

This is a very common SCAM. Cancel this transaction and block this person so they cannot make any purchases.

Rather than canceling the transaction, wait the 4 days until you can cancel based on "Buyer didn't pay" so he gets a strike that might block him from scamming other sellers.

SCAM!!!
Don't reply and just let the 4 days ride out on this transaction. They have no intention to pay you, only to steal from you. Then block them: https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/BuyerBlock
In the future, avoid auction style listings with best offers and list all you items at a fixed buy it now price with immediate payment required checked off. No best offers either. Scammers ignore these types of listings, because they have to pay instantly.
Glad you were smart enough to see through this person. So many do not. Good luck and be careful.

Yes it is a scam. scammers are not interested in your item, they just want the gift card info. Any PayPal emails will be fake. Any payment demands are fake. They pick on new sellers with "text me" questions to get you off eBay hoping they do not know how things work. Ignore him is best as eBay robots will delete him but they just return.

Of course it is a scam and as a new seller you have no business trying to sell expensive items unless you are a glutton for losing money as well as someone who craves emotional stress.

Here's a Google Street view of the shipping address. Suspicious?
02-28-2022 07:42 AM
That is a 110% scam

It’s eBay and I felt like selling it because it’s lying around. That’s what this app is for. And I got all the business in the world
to sell whatever the **bleep** I want

Good luck with that, as a newbie seller with absolutely no selling experience here, you are a sitting duck for scammers. If you weren't sure that you were being scammed..that says it all.

Interesting that you felt it appropriate to lash out at someone who tried to keep you from making a terrible mistake.

Suspicious? Not to me. What makes it suspicious?
02-28-2022 12:08 PM
Let me be clear. Just about every single aspect of that is suspicious, EXCEPT the location of the buyer.
Still want to know the reason that would be suspicious.
