Scam?

So I have been selling on ebay for a bit now. Not a lot but some items here and there for some extra money. I sold a PS4 that I have had for a while and it was completely working when I sent it but stated at the bottom that I was shipping it as it was so if it arrived broken that I was not gonna deal with that or accept refunds and this dude says he wants a refund. I see the picture he sent me and it looks nothing like the PS4 I sent. What do I do now? I have heard horror stories about eBay being a complete d**k to sellers. Any steps or things I should do to deal with this shi**ty buyer with supposed 3k reviews all 5 stars? There are minor scuffs on the front of the ps4 that are different and the top of my PS4 is spray painted terribly so it's bumpy and his clearly isn't especially since his gray PS4 logo is painted on already and mine is carved in.

What he says is not workingWhat he says is not workingWhat I sentWhat I sent

Re: Scam?

At the very least, you're getting back a Playstation with stock paint and not a bumpy spray paint job.

WINNING!

Re: Scam?

"fedex or ups,or usps needs to, as the shipping service, pay for what they broke."

Not always.  The seller is responsible for packing so the item does not break during the shipping process.

Re: Scam?

This isn't necessarily always true. The buyer WILL get a refund, but ebay may still issue a return label (charged to the seller) and require they send it back before refunding.

I just had to do my first ever return of an item on ebay after 24 years. (I always just resell an item if I bought the wrong part or no longer need it) But this item was a NAD item so I opened a return request and the seller responded IN the return request "sorry I cant help you so you will need to take it up with ebay". After 5 business days I escalated the case and it was naturally found in my favor BUT, ebay sent me a return label and said payment would be refunded as soon as item is returned (two days later I was refunded when the item was delivered back to the seller).

Re: Scam?

You sent off that terrible looking painted PS4 that looks like it probably does not work? OP, yes, it is a scam, that's why Ebay allows buyer refunds. No you cannot blame the post office or expect any refund from them.

@rugerskick  Just how did the shipping service break it?

Re: Scam?

"You should know better than to sell something good and of value on ebay."

This is basically the typical passive aggressive response to any seller fraud problem posted.

People just seem to skip over the larger problem of ebay systematically enabling and encouraging buyer fraud like this to occur in the first place.

Everyone has examples of fraudulent sellers and correctly says there's no place for them here.  Why on earth does ebay have polices that keep and encourage fraudulent buyers to remain here?  Its not a benefit to keep fraudulent buyers on ebay.  There's no upside to have policies courting and keeping them here at the sellers' detriment.

Re: Scam?

I just sold somebody a PS5 and they claimed I shipped them sidewalk chalk and school supplies. Long story short they won and eBay will not help you. Don’t list anything you’re not willing to lose. Your feedback and longevity with eBay means nothing. They will side with the buyer every time.
