Scam?

Okay, so I've been buying things on ebay over the years, but just recently started selling items.  Things have seemingly gone smoothly so far, however I have one buyer that seems a little fishy.  Could I get a 2nd or 3rd opinion on this?

They purchased three of my items totaling roughly $90.  We have messaged back and forth a couple times regarding the items and at no time did they tell me they were overseas, however, the shipping address is 13822 NE Airport Way, Portland, OR, which appears to be a reshipping service to ship items overseas.

The name of the person I am to address the package to is different than the name on the Paypal account of the buyer, but I'm thinking maybe that is the name of their shipping agent in Portland.

I googled the phone number provided in the ebay account of the buyer and it comes up under yet a different name, so now there are 3 different names associated with this order.

The buyer has a 100% positive feedback rating but only has 5 ratings total and they are all within the last 6 months.  Paypal says the sender is Non-US Unverified.

Would you cancel the order and refund the payment?  If I cancel the order, will I get penalized by ebay?

**Also, right before typing this out, I sent another message to the buyer asking if this was going overseas and they just responded with "Nope. Pls check the address that I used, pls use exact info. Paid already."**

Re: Scam?

I usually used this address to buy anything in US. The address is legit 3rd party shipping company, the overseas shipping here is a lot cheaper this way since the agent will arrange everything and it was based on weight of the item. The company name is BuyandShip LLC. As long you put the receiver name properly should be no issue. Hope this helps

Re: Scam?

Totally legit.  Buyers in Asia use buyandship to provide cheaper shipping and/or receive items from sellers that don't ship internationally.  I've used them 100's of times and they are very professional and never lose packages.   Your item will end up in Hong Kong with no applicable way to return so you won't receive refund requests.

The item going overseas is the buyer's business, you only have to get it to the reshipper (getting it there protects you from the item not received claim).

I have often gotten different Paypal names from buyer's names on eBay. I never check phone numbers and addresses when shipping, I just go to where it says on the ship to screen (and use eBay's printing system to print out a label).

What did you sell? 3 items for $90 isn't a big purchase and lots of people overseas have things they cannot easily get. (I'm speaking as a person who's traveled to over 50 different countries... many times there were regular things I couldn't easily find, even very basic things).

I've also said rule #1 for dealing with scammers is the item matters, a lot. Something that's very liquid and can be sold quickly is much more likely to be a scam item than something that doesn't easily sell.

Re: Scam?

A couple months ago my sister sold an expensive item and it went to Portland. She thinks it was going to a reshipper. The buyer had a bunch of requests but all in all everything went okay.

Re: Scam?

I just got hit by one of these guys… The item bought was an expensive basketball card and she/he is claiming to not have received the package… I shipped his item on July 1st and USPS has the package updated as being received by the buyer on July 1st in LOS ANGELES even though it was shipped via Registered mail on July 1st from Temple City CA going to Portland OR.  I will attempt to add photos.  Another one of their accounts I believe tested my account as they have another purchase for a basketball card and the USPS Tracking is not updating.  It has the same shipping address.  eBay please help.

Re: Scam?

To the best of my knowledge, when you ship to a re-shipper for an overseas buyer, your responsibility ends when the item arrives at the re-shippers location.

It has been clarified by blues that this is no longer the case.

Re: Scam?

I’ve dealt with this place multiple times each time was a scammer tried to open an INR. They both used different addresses but on google maps it pulled up the same wear house business area. It most definitely is a redirect  I’ve had to create a package interception hopefully it works if not I’m screwed. This is so terrible why does eBay let you ship to re direct address….

Re: Scam?

Hi! I just found this request you posted and was wondering if you did send the package and wether it went OK. I found your question in here when I was googling the address because I sent a package to a buyer to this address (very similar situation) and it's been suspended in transit since AUGUST! I did not send from the US, so apparently I cannot file a claim on USPS or anything. PayPal has already charged back the payment for the order I would just like to get the piece I sent back at least, or know what happenned to it.

I would greatly appreciate your reply!
