A 0 feedback buyer from russia buys a ps4 from me, opens a return case and says the item is counterfeit. He escalates it types up something in word that says the item is counterfeit and puts a sony logo on it and ebay finds in his favor and lets him keep the item.
Do I have any rights here? The item was official, I have proof of purchase. ebay didn't even make him return the item and the counterfeit letter sent to me didn't even look official.

yes i clicked accept the return, return for refund, i clicked the option that said I could not buy a russian label.
Yikes. You needed to send the buyer funds through PayPal, as a goods and services payment and then give eBay the transaction ID. Since you didn’t, the buyer asked eBay to step in. They (eBay) should have contacted you though and given you something like 5 days to pay for return shipping—I assume that didn’t happen?

This was discussed in another thread and I thought posters were saying you cannot send it that way.
I have seen it discussed on many threads, no one has said it can’t be sent that way and if they did, they are wrong. There’s absolutely no reason WHY it can’t be sent that way.

I distinctly remember posters disagreeing with that tactic.
It’s been addressed many times. On this board and the shipping board.
Heres a thread https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Buyer-filed-INAD-for-item-and-he-lives-in-Japan/m-p/28421077

Well if Ebay does not reverse based upon that hilarous document then charge Ebay with collusion with them pesky Ruskies. I don't believe the Sony Company is an LLC, although some major subsidiaries are LLCs. But the hard lesson learned here is to not sell international, especially electronics. I won't even sell electronics within the US, but that is just my personal risk aversion tolerance. Your mileage may vary.

You let that lure of easy money cloud your judgement. You knew exactly what was going to take place, but human greed is a very hard trait to overcome....

Perhaps there is some confusion as to what PayPal method to send money is being used to send funds to a buyer to purchase a return shipping label. There are two (2) types of send money options in PayPal...one is "Friends and Family" and the other is for "Goods and Services". Goods and Services would be the correct option to use in this case, noting the transaction number of the sale.

I don't see it how selling to russia is human greed, or how I knew exactly what would happen. I have been selling for 10 years and this is the first time someone wrote a fake counterfeit claim.

Disgusting and unacceptable but this is why many of us stopped selling electronics worldwide or stopped dealing in them at all.

Block all scam countries. Then call up Sony and show them this fraud letter, have your proof for them, ask them if they will help you. Then file a appeal with ebay, get a appeal supervisor on the phone send them your proof direct while on phone thru ebay messages. If you don't do this on phone, you will lose appeal. Bots will just shut it down.
It's worth a try.

Ebay has taken Russia off the GLobal Shipping Program. Probably because of numerous issues like this one.

I'm still trying to figure out what ends differently here if your buyer in Los Angeles County sends in that fake document... If the "buyer" shows "proof of counterfeit", they don't make buyers return counterfeit items, do they?

which countries are considered fraud countries?
05-10-2018 05:44 PM
Nigeria, for one.
You need to research this online. You start with what countries are safe to ship to, what countries have a dependable and reliable postage system. You expand to what countries have strict import laws and are picky about what they let in the country. And you check what countries are prone to scams, and you do this before you decide you are going to ship internationally.
For example. many don't ship to Russia, South America, or Italy. Russia and South America because their postal systems are not reliable. Italy is very picky about what they will let in the country. Other countries are as well.
I recall a thread by a Russian buyer who was thrown out of the MBG coverage because items often did not reach him.

Unfortunately, the "high risk" countries - sometimes have help - as the postal system steals the product even before it's delivered and if there is no tracking number on it - you are out of luck. Both buyer and seller lose.
