I am being Scammed!
I sold a $4650 Chanel Bag on Ebay on May 4th 2018.   The buyer paypal the payment to my Paypal account on May 4th.
Buyer requested to send the bag in her daugter's name because she is on vacation.
I delivered the bag with UPS( I pay extra shipping) three days signature required on May 5th at UPS Store and informed the buyer with a copy or confirmation photo that she will received the bag either on 5/10 or 5/11.
The buyer wrote an email back right away and claimed that she would not purchased the purse if she knew i would delivered the bag through UPS service.
The buyer prefers i delivered the package with USPS the priority mail which she believe the package will arrived on May10.
I called to UPS and requested stop the delivery.   Then I wrote an email to offer a refund to the buyer.
The buyer replied and requested to deliver the package with USPS priority mail on May7th morning and thank me for being patience and keep her updated.
I delivered the package on May 7th morning with USPS (signature require), then I received an delivery address change request from the buyer.   She asked if I can deliver the package to her mom's house instead of the orignial address she provided to me.    She said her mom would be able to sign the package for her.    I went back to USPS and requested to change the delilvery address.  I also took picture of pacakage lable and email both lable picure and tracking number to the buyer.
She replied to me "  You are awesome thank you so much".
Today, Paypal sent me an email regarding the buyer states that she did not authorized the purchase and initiated the paypal dispute.  I checked on USPS and traced the package,  It was delivered with in person signature.
I called Paypal and Ebay for soltions. I also wrote an email with all documents, receipts, and email copies to provide evdiences.   Yes,  they will investigate this and get back to me sooon.   OF COURSE HOLD THE FUND.
What should I do as a Ebay seller in order to protect myself ?
Please advice.  Thank you so much

Never list anything you can't affford to lose.

Never let any buyer tell you what to do or how.

And with no recent selling history, I don't know how you were even able to list a $4,000 item.

The "buyer paypaled" my account.  Does that mean she did not pay on ebay?

Did the messages come thru My ebay messages or direct to your email account?

Those are the rules that I live by. I do not make as much money probably, but I don't lose any either. If I were to have to give something up(I have never had it happen yet. I have also never had a return-yet)I know that I am not going to care and I am not going to be upset. I know not everyone can do this. But it works for me because I am not going to let anyone scam me. I am so sorry about this OP and hope that it works out for you. I do not know or understand how some sellers live with the stress.

I almost think new sellers should have to click on something that says "have you read this, that etc", some kind of pop-up agreement when the go to listing some worth $500 or more for the first time so they at least have a chance to review the basics and understand just how easy it is to be scammed here and what things NOT to do when selling here...

If that new address is in a different zip code, you just paid shipping to lose your purse.

i Just want to know why you played musical shipping with the buyer? Why? All you need for seller protection against this type of chargeback is proof of shipment. Hopefully PayPal will accept one of your various tracking numbers.

I doubt Paypal will do anything.  The OP changed the shipping address.  You are never supposed to ship to anywhere other than the Paypal address.

I do not understand why you didn't sent it UPS and end it - the UPS I believe is harder to intercept to send the package elsewhere.  I think now is the time to get on the phone with the postal office in her zip code and ask if you can speak with the carrier or get information on a package.  Start keeping tabs on the journey of the bag.

Well, they may luck out if they use the last one that was technically shipped to the address, but if they see the address change, I don't think that will fly even on a UA chargeback.

All she needs is proof of shipment to the buyers zip code. Both eBay and PayPal go by zip code. If the UPS store was in the buyers zip code, the seller ha proof of shipment but that’s not say PayPal will accept it since the OP intercepted the package.

It’s all gonna come down to the zip codes I think. If the first shipment that went to the UPS store is in the same zip, it might work. If the final shipment to the moms address is the same zip, it might work. What a mess!

Oh, I think that ship sailed early on in this transaction. Way too late for that. I'm sorry it happened to you, but you had so many red flags flying in this transaction, I'm surprised you didn't have every bull in a twenty-mile radius charging at you. There were so many opportunities to protect yourself, and you missed every one of them.

Read up on seller protection, buyer protection, the user agreement, et al, and then try it again.

I few times I had scammers with real people's PP information making purchases....when the real person discover the PP charge they did not make, they call PP and open a case (would not you?).  Case open...funds are held. Once PP sees that you shipped to the correct address and the tracking number says was delivered...PP will refund you and many time will eat the loss.

Many times, scamers steal information from real people, or PP get compromised......and that's what happen, they use vacated houses that are for rent or for sale in order to receive the packages, reason why they wanted the exact delivery date.

Remember, you are the seller, YOU MAKE THE RULES...not the buyer.  Only ship to the address that buyer used with ebay and PP if you don't want to lose your money...otherwise, PP will side with buyer...EVEN IF IT IS A SCAMMER
