In the past week I've had 2 scam attempts that I don't remember having before. First was on an item I had sold a week prior. I got a message from a buyer who said they had received their order and it came in broken and aske me to ship to a new address as they had just moved. The message came in from a current listing, not a past order. I checked the user name in my paid and shipped listing and had no order from this user. I told her that and she insisted that she had. I asked her to send a message to me from the order in her order history. She said her purchase history was missing some orders and would I please just ship a replacement. The item was unique and I had only sold one and it went to a different state. She finally backed off and thanked me. Then a few days later I get a message from a buyer from a current listing asking me to ship an item she just paid for a couple days prior to a different address. Same process followed, told her I had already shipped said item, but not to the user name the message came under. She then proffered a different user name, still not correct. Asked her to send message from order in purchase history so I could validate purchase, haven't heard back from her.
I think what's happening is people are looking under sold listings and then trying to scam the seller into sending them the package. Weird and not easy to pull off, but our first instinct is to satisfy a buyer request. Bottom line, investigate first, then satisfy valid buyer request.
