I made a sale on eBay at 7:03pm Monday night, and at 1:30 Am Tuesday morning (only 6.5 hours later) I saw that eBay had highlighted the order in red as 'late' for shipping, and I got a notice that my top-rated seller status is in jeopardy.
Is this really how it works? I have to get back to work in the evening if someone makes a random purchase before I go to bed?
I package and generate a label on the same day for items sold before 5pm (normal working hours). Anything sold later in the evening gets handling/tracking the following morning and gets shipped as well. I always ship the next day, unless the post office is closed. Yet somehow this would be my THIRD late shipment - according to eBay.
When is the cut off time for same day handling/tracking? I can't be on call 24/7

You may want to go with 1 business day handling. I seriously doubt this is going to cost you any business, and if you get it out the same day anyway, then you've underpromised on your shipping speed.

It can be whatever you choose. Just set your cutoff time for any time before you go to the Post Office. Or maybe reconsider putting yourself through the hassles of keeping up with same-day shipping at all. You get the same eBay benefits with one-day handling.

The eBay reward for offering same day shipping is not worth the stress and hassle running to the post office say a couple times a day. Your time is worth something and gas prices are still high, and they shouldn't be.
I do 2-day processing. 70/30 chance I will ship within 1 day. I like to have that cushion in case something comes up that is out of my control to get to the post office on time.
