Hi,
just curious if eBay is extremely slow over the last month or so? My sales are down by 1/3… it is very quiet over here.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Cari

Think of all the people who are not getting paid…the military for one. Civil Service which includes a ton of people. people are hurting and they are not shopping. The government is shut down. need I say more?

This has been an almost daily complaint in the 20 years I've posted here.
However, for what you're selling (supersaturated brands and styles), you're actually doing very well. Very small sellers like ourselves are subject to big swings because we don't have a lot of margin when it comes to selection. I've always sold consistently overall, but experience big dropouts, then times when I can't pack and ship fast enough. A lot has to do with what I carry.
Just keep being consistent.

Just going to have to wait it out not much you can really do,
“Consumer confidence weakened in September, declining to the lowest level since April 2025,” said Stephanie Guichard, Senior Economist, Global Indicators at The Conference Board. “The present situation component registered its largest drop in a year. Consumers’ assessment of business conditions was much less positive than in recent months, while their appraisal of current job availability fell for the ninth straight month to reach a new multiyear low.

I have been reading this board regularly for decades.
Sellers have posted here consistenlty - week after week, month after month, year after year - about a drop in sales.
With tens of millions of sellers on the site, at any given time there are bound to be millions of sellers experieincing a drop in sales, millions of sellers experiencing a surge in sales, and millions of sellers who have seen no change at all.

Don’t you the the shutdown has a tremendous amount more impact..This is hardly the same as the perpetual complaining that we all do periodically.

People aren't purchasing pre-owned clothing as gifts.
Maybe they're like me, holding out for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, which are coming up quickly.
I do agree that many people are currently out of work or have reduced hours due to the economics.
Prices are high, and I think more people are being frugal. Do you pay rent or buy a pair of shoes?

I think frugalmarketplace summed it up for you very well. Things are bad & they keep going south.

Many people do not have a clue how serious this is . we have millions not getting paid…all of the military.. that is approximately 1.3 million. Civil service not getting paid and furloughed.. That is approximately 1 million…. Just just keep counting. The uncertainty is not conducive for shopping.

You are not alone about low sales. Many others have posted similar threads. Comes down to pricing and demand. I will tell you the exact same thing as the others check your prices. See what others are selling those similar items for and sold for. You may find that your prices are higher than the others. In addition you may want to check the demand in your item. If there is a bunch of similar items but none really have sold then don't expect yours to sell anytime soon. The demand or interest in a particular item doesn't exist right now. Also factor in your return policy. Buyers may decide to purchase from sellers who have a 30 day w/seller pays for shipping cost policy or yours where the buyer has to pay the shipping cost.

There are always 'reasons' and they never change whether the economy is 'bad' or 'good'.
Right now it's holiday spending, and people are not apt to spend as much on pre-owned as new. It has been this way every year since I've been doing this.

@chapeau-noir This a totally different situation . . I don’t know if you or a family member have lost a job or been laid off without pay….but it precariousness of the highest degree. In the last 30 days my impressions have dropped 67%.. doesn’t that say something.

‘My sales conversion rate is actually higher and they have been steady. There is something occasionally on this forum that causes it. I can assure you. My comments are relating to the OP concern about sales..
