Ebay made a bad move. They took the charge amount off the packing list and then added internet sales tax the the charge. Look like the we are ripping off the buyer. Here is the message that we just went through "

It's not eBay's bad move. Your state requires eBay to collect and remit sales tax on the total purchase price including shipping. When you make the payment PayPal sends the seller the item cost and shipping and the sales tax is sent to eBay.

The White House had nothing to do with the marketplace facilitator sales tax changes.

It seems from your post that you're the seller in this scenario, right?
Just to be clear, it's the buyer's state that is requiring eBay to collect and remit the sales tax.
The buyer sees the sales tax before completing a purchase, so there's no validity to the accusation that it [l]ooks like . . . we are ripping off the buyer."

@houstongopher it was not the White House, it was a Supreme Court decision in the case of South Dakota vs Wayfair that opened the door for states to enact Marketplace Facilitator laws
