The few months leading up to the election my sales were low. Now not long after the election I have had in increase in sales. Anyone else having this experience?

I think that is wishful thinking on your part. The Holiday Season is upon us and hopefully we all will see an uptick in sales. I highly doubt you will see any real impact in sales because of the election until next year sometime. (2nd/3rd quarter) I may be wrong.
Either way, congrats on the sales and don't forget to keep the algorithm happy.

Yes, sales started going up the day after the election.

NO, nothing has changed.

If I read your post correctly, you are comparing a pre-election time span of three months to a post-election time span of 8 days.
Please tell me what I am missing.

Give it time, assuming sales have increased due to the election results is very pre-mature, The Holidays are here & that is most likely what is causing your increase, & I think people have been holding off on buying, waiting for Holiday deals, either way congrats on your sales!, I am interested in how things are 6-8 months from now.

Over the past week, the sales of millions of sellers increased.
Over the past week, the sales of millions of sellers decreased.
Over the past week, the sales of millions of sellers stayed the same.
Which has been true every week for the past thousand weeks.

I'm a small seller (about 900 single quantity items) of long tail items. Ups and downs from week to week or even month to month don't signify much about the greater economy because my sales really come down to the right person came along at the right time. And dollar wise they mean even less---if the right person comes along and buys an item for $200 today, my dollar volume of sales will jump....but if thatperosn buys a $10 item, not so much.
Really, I don't even try to gauge the economy based on my own sales' fluctuations, or those of similar sellers.
Overall, I would anticipate ecommerce will be getting a bump now because the Holiday Season is ramping up. I'll stick with what I've been saying about the election all along: Those who "won" are happy and maybe spending and celebrating. Those who "lost" are sad and using retail therapy to feel better. And it's the Holidays, and Americans, regardless of Party, are first and foremost consumers, and they will spend.
