My sales have been down about 50% since the middle of May. I realize the economy really stinks and people don’t want to purchase cosmetics which are basically a WANT and not a NEED. But it just seems so odd that it happened so suddenly. One week I had 10-20 sales a day. Literally the next week I was getting maybe 4 a day. It’s just odd that this happened so suddenly. Is there an eBay algorithm that changed? Thanks for any input you may have!

No, demand and prices. Inflation has caused such high prices on everything, the demand goes down on the things we can do without.

It's not just you, and it's not that the economy suddenly tanked in May. Many experienced sellers are reporting a complete crash in sales after the spring seller update in May.
The search function is now absolutely terrible, so I would imagine that is one of the factors in the loss of sales...buyers simply cannot find the items they are looking to purchase.
It seems that the update created some glitches or problems with searching. Hopefully they can get this mess straightened out, but I'm not optimistic about it.

For you, maybe it was sudden, but there have been multiple posts like yours starting quite awhile ago.

Hi @annisazzz
There have been a rash of similar posts among multiple sellers here in the forum. You might do a little reading here to see the many responses. The bottom line is that no one knows for certain what may have caused a downturn. Good luck in your quest and hope yours and others sales pick up soon.

B) How badly people want what you are selling.
Also C) the number of people who are now working from home and no longer wear makeup everyday. Makeup sales went way down at my B&M job during the pandemic and still haven't really recovered for that very reason.

Hi!
I posted basically the same thing a few weeks ago. Yes, everything is different. I'm a cosmetic seller too and it's been months since I've seen any action. I'm lucky to make the 27.95 to keep it open at this point.

Spring Seller Update stated CHANGES to Various Categories and item specifics; starting in May.
Health & Beauty is one of those categories
To help your listings match what buyers are searching for, we’re adding new item specifics in the following categories:

You are still averaging 6 a day:
115 Sales in June
115/19 days is 6 a day
Noteworthy
June 16th: 20 Sales
June 14th: 8 Sales
June 10th: 10 Sales
June 8th: 10 Sales
June 6th: 8 Sales
June 2nd: 11 Sales
Dates with less than 5 Sales:
18,15,13,12,5,4,3,1
Not really a 'huge' drop

Everyone's experience is different, of course. Thought I'd share ours: we had a huge number of sales (huge for us) from mid-May through about 2 weeks ago. Memorial Day holiday and the following weekend were very busy for us. Since the 9th, it's died down a good bit. We're averaging 2 to 4 sales a day on this platform on 1600+ available items.
Seems like sending offers to watchers has become much less effective versus a month ago.
Just remember, 3rd quarter is starting very soon!

I'm struggling too, with sales, views and offers. My promoted listings fell off a cliff about the time eBay notified us of the PL change to 2% going into affect on July 11th.
I've had a total of 16 sales since June 1st. Not going to pay the rent, buy gas or food with that. This has been going on for me since the whole eBay site went down on May 13th. Prior to that my sales were consistent enough to keep me from having an anxiety attack...
It just seems like there has been a host of problems and fewer sales with every change eBay has made!
Ch...ch..ch.. changes..... Promoted listings - How views are calculated - Shifting a bunch of categories - then there are the continuing and constant changes to Item Specifics.
I blow off so much time trying to stay on top of everything.... with no rewards for all the hard work.

My sales also have been way down. When I do have a sale it is one here or there. Usually the weekends were great, but as of late I have not had any sales. And of course eBay lets you know that in your sales report. I do not have any clue as to what is going with eBay, but it is getting ridiculous as a seller to try to list items for sale. I have a wide variety of items for sale in my eBay store. The item specific is unruly. I list every item to the best of my ability and I do not know why eBay is being so strict about it. I will not add an item specific just because eBay requests it if I do not have that particular information on my item for sale. It is my opinion that eBay is looking for sellers that can give them the most money (the big bucks) in their pockets and somehow that is affecting the rest of us sellers that are trying to make a small business work so that we can pay our bills. This is great that we can air our grievances, however we need to bring our thoughts and concerns to eBay. Is there anyone out there with the understanding of how to make this happen? eBay needs to understand it is not just about the buyers, without sellers there is nothing for buyers to purchase.
