Sales by state/country.

Every time my nephew sees me packing ebay orders, he never fails to ask me "where is that going?".  Something i don't even think about. I dont even look. I don't care.  I'm like a machine when i'm packing/shipping ebay orders.

Is there some kind of ebay report/graph/pie chart that shows me sales by state/country?

Re: Sales by state/country.

I dunno about ebay reports... I stopped relying on them for data awhile back.

You can get state/country data from Paypal reports. At the very least it'll be easy to figure out a numeric percentage with that spreadsheet info.

If you know some excel skills you should be able to generate a pretty quick pie chart or something.

What purpose would that information serve?

None whatsoever.

My nephew has a young, curious mind.   😃

So why do you want to know?

Re: Sales by state/country.

there used to be an app.......that put dots in a map of the world that would be put on your listing......

Why not get him an old fashioned globe....write the town/country names down and let him poke flags/pins into the globe.  Great way for him to learn geography.........

you can probably get a virtual globe on line.......but some how spinning that globe and looking at the countries was just "different".........and fun when I was a kid.........

Wholeheartedly agree.

I used to collect stamps when I was a kid. I learned more about geography, history, famous people, etc than I ever learned in school. And it was a lot more fun than listening to some school ma'rm droning on. Do him a favor. Make him work for it.

It's good to feed that hungry mind.  I get my destinations from my tax software.

So far this year top states are New York (43 sales), California (38) and Texas (24). And in 2019 I had 4 sales to Wyoming.

If you use PayPal, "State/Province" is one of the fields you can select under "Shipping Details" to be included in an activity export.

It would be a bit of work, but sorting and totaling on that field would give you those numbers.

What if his nephew is 30+ years old? I doubt it’ll work then. He’ll be all like yea whatever’s man, just text me the results when you have them.

I know this wasn't the intent of the post, but if a seller gets big enough they will need to track it.  I forget what my accountant said, but after a certain dollar amount some states require you to register for a tax id number in said state.  It was a pretty high dollar amount though.

I manually track all the sales I do including city and state on my spreadsheet.  I should try to remember how to make graphs and see what things look like.

Re: Sales by state/country.

I said this in another thread, but I am also just curious about where my items go, and I keep track of the states I ship to and how many I send to each one.  I have about 8 years worth of stats, and most years I send the most to California, then Florida, New York, and Texas. Those are always the top four, but the order can vary.  I reached the point where California would have wanted me to register there just before eBay took over collecting.  I send at least one package to every state & Washington DC each year.

I tried to use that app that shows where packages have been sent but it messed up my listings and triggered eBay to get upset about links and content, so I took it out.

I feel a pie chart coming on.

A good virtual option is My Maps by Google Maps ... it's free.

I use it for creating trip planning for sourcing ... I add all of the addresses that I find for yard and estate sales and throw in the thrifts in those areas ... and lunch 🙂 I can create and access the custom map on any of my devices.

Create a Google account that both you and your nephew (and his parents of course) can access.
