Totally love the new listing features on eBay, but since this roll-out almost no sales - and even more concerning is very few views. Not sure what is going on here.

The bots they removed from views were not buying bots, they were like little spies peeking in at a listing. I would not worry about this large drop off in non buying interested bots. What should concern everyone is that the covid time buying frenzy has been replaced with the stagflation hesitation in buying because everything essential for people of average to below average income has increased in cost DRAMATICALLY. However, the wealthy folk will always have big money to spend because they breeze through these types of crises by just investing in other things and they stay wealthy.

Ebay ceo I am sure is acutely aware of last quarters earnings which were short. Again, it is a well known issue with practically all big retailers that sales are not where they need to be . It’s turning toward a recession period, they think maybe not as bad as the 70’s but may even take at least 1 year to correct itself. I hope people really take steps to protect their businesses here and elsewhere during this time. It may be that some need to cut some inventory buying until things pick up for them, or to try reducing some prices to get people more interested in buying. Many people are getting really strapped right now or fearful of what is to come.

The world is collapsing. Everywhere. Not just here.
Entropy.

I have to stand on line for checkout in every B&M I use here. People are spending, just not online.

thanks for trying to challenge me and for finding excuses for Ebay doing bad sort of like jon bon jovi administration does. That is not what i said. I said that makes me wonder if he knows the shortcomings are not due to all **bleep** excuses but due to IT and updates problems.

Yeah right. Then maybe they can stop updating and then we see what the real culprit is. You sound like you work for viden. Maybe you can be press secretary.

it is sort of similar to invoking defence act to produce more solar panel when people hurting at the gas (the ebay updates).

I really do not want to totally challenge your post, as there could be some really nutty things going on here that none of us are totally aware of. I have seen a drop in sales here as well to the point where I am going to. HAVE TO curtail my inventory buying very very soon here or I AM GOING TO GO BROKE. I have loaded my store with new inventory after the Christmas buying time and I am no where near where I need to be on here with sales to continue to dump cash that is not being replenished by sales here.

Yeah that might be another big factor here.

Yes, there was a radio broadcast I listened to yesterday. Several countries in massive debt to China, trying to figure out how to repay their debt. Food shortages in many countries. The war and the gas prices has wrecked havoc on every part of the economy to a greater or lesser extent depending on the country involved.

I heard on tv from President the other day that people have jobs and a lot savings and economy is thriving.
ebay started getting losses at October update and had to i pose oerdatory fees hikes then befire Putin and food shortages, you say that CEO is aware that updates disrupt sales and Ebay is loosing on it? Then he and his team must not be very competent. Just a guess

Gosh. I really do not know either. Yes, the job market is good, and people are in a much better position as far as savings etc than in the 70’s they say as far as this stagflation period. That is what may keep everybody afloat right now. I hope for you and everybody that we can get through whatever is happening.

I think we should ask CEO and his team whether he is aware that at and after every update the sales are disrupted severly and sellers are hurting and buyers are put off. As @chapeau-noir said people spend money in B&M — it means that people do have money. Maybe he is not aware because update people are hiding it from him. B&M gives people choice which Ebay is taking away by disrupting search. We will see how the new search update benefited Ebay pockets. We sellers don’t make money due to disruption and changes that don;t improve anything for buyers and we the sellers have no money to spend to make Ebay thrive.

I have many items with no views and my sales are WAY DOWN since this “improvement”. Something needs to get fixed and quickly. How is it eBay isn’t concerned as yet? This seems to be a problem for many of us.

I think your somewhat correct however the real truth is probably because eBay is silently wanting to increase the number of products that utilize the "promoted listing" feature. Think about it. for every item that is "promoted" it adds directly to eBay's bottom line, profit. It's bad enough they charge 12.9 percent on items even the sales tax we pay is included in that charge! Now it seems that what they really want is to get even more money. Hello welcome to promoted items. What a world we live in. Greed knows no boundaries.
