The Supreme Court ruled on the Wayfair vs. South Dakota on 21 June 2018 which basically said it was within the parameters of the Constitution for the individual states to collect sales tax on interstate ecommerce. After that as others noted when exactly eBay started collecting and remitting the sales tax was dependent on when the individual states passed their specific laws.
EBay has now inherited the responsibility for keeping track of the changes and updates to the 10,000+ individual state sales tax laws. The most recent of which appears to be the Road Repair Tax in Minnesota.
