For about the past week, when using my IE-11, I have not been able to access the Ebay Homepage because no matter how many times I try accessing it a pop-up always appears saying 'INTERNET EXPLORER HAS STOPPED WORKING'. Today I finally found out a way to get around this 'IE-11 Allowing No Access To Ebay Homepage Glitch' and it is to access a specific item or category such as by googling: 'ebay bike' or 'ebay book' and then clicking on that URL to get into the Ebay site. The search must contain the word 'EBAY' and once you click on the URL then you can access all of the MY EBAY pages and other pages. This is sort of a backdoor method of accessing Ebay until they cure the IE-11 glitch. The glitch is just with the Ebay Homepage and not with any of the other Ebay pages so do not try to access the homepage when within the website otherwise you will keep getting the pop-up. I also utilize Google Chrome (mostly for Youtube) which is unaffected by the Ebay homepage glitch. I prefer to use IE for Ebay & Chrome for YT.

It would be easier to bookmark your eBay summary page then to constantly find a random link from google.

Very thoughtful of you to post a work around, OP, thank you for that!
You might not need to do that now, though. I read a post this AM by someone who had been having the same issue and he says he can now sign in. It may have been repaired.
Anyway, thank you again!

Microsoft themselves has stopped supporting IE11 and even publicly said that people should no longer be using it. The far better solution would be to simply update to an up-to-date browser (like Edge) that will not encounter these issues, as they will become more frequent and occur with more websites as time goes on because websites are no longer designing their sites to be compatible with IE.

I was going to say the same @yuzuha because it's the correct response- but I know a few IE users and they like to cling tight. They will go down with the ship if they have to. The problem the OP is experiencing is just the very beginning.

Internet Explorer is a dinosaur and this ain't Jurassic Park. Time to move on and find a new browser.

@Anonymous
Rather than looking for a work around, they should be looking for a new browser. Edge is Microsoft's newest browser. As others have mentioned, they will continue to experience problems with IE in the future on more and more sites. Eventually it will be not only buggy, but insecure as well. The sooner the switch is made the better.

Edge isn't going to be Edge much longer. Microsoft gave up, and is switching it to the Chromium engine (yeah, Google's browser engine), as have others like Opera, Vivaldi, and Brave.

Full disclosure: I use Firefox 3.6.24 (11/2011) for most of my eBay work, and FF31.0 (7/2014) for some of the things that don't work, and FF52 for the rest if needed. No problems and never a security issue in almost 25 years of mostly running naked with no anti-virus (have had a thick tinfoil hat for the last 20 and use lots of other things like a filtering web-proxy, huge HOSTS file, IP filter (peerblock), and in browser armor like scripting, cookies, and other things disabled by default in all browsers. A step above using Lynx 🙂

Thanks for your input. Many years ago on a Windows 98 laptop I used Firefox as a backup and it worked well so I will use it again if IE continues to give me 'never-ending' problems. In the meantime I will access My Ebay through the Ebay Motors homepage which has no 'IE has stopped working' pop-ups

Maybe that's one of the reasons my sales have slowed to a 'trickle'!

I've been using IE 'since dino's roamed the earth' so it would be hard to adapt to a different browser but I will if IE continues to be a pain. I have also used Chrome for Ebay listings but I prefer to use that for listening to Youtube videos while I list on Ebay with IE. I will check out EDGE but some say Firefox is better and I used FF a long time ago on a Windows 98 laptop so I am familiar with it.
