I UNDERSTAND EBAY CHARGING 10 % ON SHIPPING BECAUSE OF PAST SELLERS OVER PRICING SHIPPING TO AVOID FEES ON SELLING. BUT DOES ANYONE THINK EBAY SHOULD ONLY CHARGE 10 % ON ANY PRICE OVER ACTUAL SHIPPING LABEL YOU PRINTED THOUGH EBAY . LIKE I CHARGE 3.50 TO SHIP AN ITEM, IT COST ME 2.66 TO PRINT THE LABEL I SHOULD ONLY BE CHARGED ON THE 84 CENT PROFIT, WHICH IS REALLY NOT PROFIT WHEN I COUNT MY ENVELOPE, INK, TAPE AND BUBBLE PACKING . OTHERS CHARGE 10.00 TO SHIP AND COST THEM 4.00 SO 6.00 SHOULD BE WHAT THEY PAY 10 % ON. NOT FAIR WHEN I SELL AN ITEM FOR 10.00 AND IT COST LARGE FLAT RATE BOX TO SHIP NOW MY FEES ARE MORE THAN DOUBLE NEVER MIND PAYPAL GETS SOME TOO. I END UP WITH ONLY A BIT OVER 6.00 ! 3.77 IN FEES

what do they do with sellers who don't print ebay labels and therefore ebay has no way of knowing what they do pay for one?

@countrylulu
It doesn't matter if you make a profit off the shipping or charge the buyer the exact shipping, Ebay's fee is based on the total dollar amount you receive from the buyer.

If they don't charge the shipping FVF, they'll raise the item price FVF. They're not going to reduce total revenue.

Spitting in the wind - ebay's not going to change that bad habit any time soon. And jsut for the record - I still see sellers with 99cent items and $100 shipping - not sure what part of the stone age their still living in but their still doing it.

Those are the ones who ruined it for us. So if they print a label for 3.00 ebay will have to charge them on the 97.00 profit .

People who don't print on ebay will have to pay full fees. You can print ups on ebay labels. You get a small discount when printing labels on ebay which helps the cost of packing meterial, you can also get same discount printing on the usps website .
Sell a 5.00 item and it cost 9.99 to ship, ebay takes 1.50 from you paypal takes 45 cents then 30 cents per sale fees are 2.25 . without ebay taking that 1.00 on shipping it cuts my fees down . I try not to sell heavy items anymore and don't like that I have to charge more for shipping by adding my fees into it . Ebay I think owns paypal.
How does China sell 50 cent items with free shipping ? I have won many items for as low as 10 cents with free shipping. But thats another topic .

Do you really expect Ebay to ever give back any revenue stream or part thereof? That is the only revenue stream they have that guarantees annual increases without them having to state they are raising fees.

lol, that's not going to make "those" sellers happy....... Am sure many would cry that Ebay is just trying to make money on shipping and "control" their business even more. So does Ebay change a well established system that treats all sellers equally to satisfy you or do they leave the present system in place? I would guess they leave the present system in place..

Those numbers were all available to you before you listed the item.
If the fees for an item are "not fair", then do the math beforehand and choose not to list that item.
It is not eBay's fault that you chose to list it.

Even if there were no shipping FVF, I'd never sell a $10 item that costs $19 to ship. That's just poor business. What happens if the buyer files a SNAD? You're not going to pay another $19 to have it shipped back, so you'll refund the $29, and you'll be $19 in the hole, plus you'll no longer have the item.
Makes no sense.

23.6 billion dollars in transactions first quarter
lets say shipping was 20 percent of that, so 23,600,000,000 x .2 x .1 =
472,000,000 dollars per quarter profit on the shipping fees and that is probably low
