SELLER STRIKE! CANCEL LISTINGS WITHOUT ZOOM!

I am selling items that require zoom. Some could be $300+ items, but lack of zoom function will without a doubt hurt the final prices. I tried some various tests today. New listings with photos at 12x12 inches 1200x1200 and no go. Upped the size to 19x19 (1900x1900) nope, no zoom.

Just checked a fellow seller's item list (sorted chronologically). He lists several items every day  and none of his listings after after August 23rd have functioning zoom.

Even though I have bids, I AM STRONGLY CONSIDERING CANCELLING ALL BIDS AND CLOSING UP SHOP UNTIL THIS IS FIXED!

If enough of us do this, (GO ON STRIKE)  perhaps the Lords of ebay will act to fix their minions' tech screw-up.

(and this problem is already going to hurt the ebay bottom line due to reduced selling prices)

I for one am not in a position to allow an ebay problem to down-price my goods.

Cancelling bids aggravates bidders and damages the ebay experience, so while it is also a self inflicted wound, it will negatively affect ebay's image.

ARE YOU LISTENING EBAY???? DO we need to go on STRIKE???

Re: SELLER STRIKE! CANCEL LISTINGS WITHOUT ZOOM!

I did the same thing for years to make sure the photos were crisp and the right size.

And way back, ebay did not even host photos at all. Then as you point out, using photos inline in the description became a problem for MOBILE users.

I have always worked overtime to make my photos clear and text understandable.

Over the decades ebay has stumbled repeatedly. Seems like they redid the platform annually for a long time, forcing a relearning every time. It seems to have been stable as of late, BUT... Watch out... new upper management... They need to feel like they are doing SOMETHING, so change is probably in the wind.

As stated, it has to do with the date the listing was posted. Many of my listings precede the glitch.

Yes, I know what you mean, as years ago digital cameras made less than 1MP photos (and before that we had to scan our photo prints to digital). I look at some of those old pics on floppy disc and wonder how I sold anything back then. the photos were so small. (due to limited bandwidth too).

Marble collectors are very particular about condition and grading. (meaning potential returns) I am gearing up to sell many better marbles, so for me zoom is very important.  I try to show every detail and defect so they know exactly what they are buying. It helps all around. No zoom cancels that out.

Re: SELLER STRIKE! CANCEL LISTINGS WITHOUT ZOOM!

I haven't posted in three full days. I usually list between 50-75 listings per day.

eBay DOES NOT CARE ABOUT SELLERS! If they did, all they would have to to is let us know what is happening. Let us know if our already affected auctions will self-repair when they fix their screw-up, or if we'll have to redo all of them. I CANNOT and WILL NOT sell my items without zoom. Even with zoom, buyers want to claim they did not see something I was clearly showing and even describe in text. Then EVERY TIME a buyer opens a case because they did not read the title or the description or look at the photos , eBay finds in their favor. I'd list if I thought for one second that eBay would support the facts and their sellers. THEY DO NOT!

I want to list. IT"S MY LIVELIHOOD! I make between $300-$1500 per day and am NOT as long as this problem persists and eBay does NOTHING TO INFORM BUYERS!

Yes, clearly your eyeglass frames have the same needs as my marbles... zoom is essential.

Like you, I am not listing anything that needs zoom until it's fixed. And you make a very good point about notifying us about whether they are going to fix the existing listings, or just fix it moving forward.

EBAY.... PLEASE....WHAT IS THE STORY WITH ZOOM?????

Well, I'd venture to guess that past Presidents get preferential treatment.  The big problem is that the weekend is burning... Still, no zoom on newer listings that need it.  I certainly hope you are right and all is well in the AM.  I wonder if they are having to go through and manually repair code on each listing? That would be a bummer.

How adorable.

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.

I would certainly HOPE I get preferential treatment but I doubt it, good thought though.  Now let me ask this ... I forgot to check this when it happened to me, but if you copy an item number that does NOT zoom then log out of your eBay account then go the eBay home page, paste the item number in the search window and go to the item can you zoom the pics?  in otherwords, I did not get the chance to verify it was a problem at my end while logged in as well as an issue for anyone viewing the item.

All 12??? I have 41 listings up, and only a few are new enough to have the problem.

Good thoughts, yes, I did log out and try to look at it as an outside viewer, and no change. (just did again) no change.

This is intertesting though: I went in to change photos earlier and the zoom IS WORKING on the editing page. Thus, they have the large files, but have a break in the link.

I think you are placing more importance on zoom than it deserves, but do what you gotta do.

I think it depends on the category. Most sellers in vintage collectables (cameras in my case) feel pretty strongly that zoom is essential.

I'm not listing anything until its fixed. A couple times a day I submit a test listing to see if it's started working without notice. As there's been no postive result for 3 days, I've deleted every one of them.
