SELLER DASHBOARD DEFECT CATEGORY

I have been on Ebay for over 23 years and have a store for the pass 13 years selling Watches and jewelry. I pay a monthly fee for the store and had over 2000 items listed until Ebay started to limit me because of out of stock items. I had 7 seven out of stock items in jewelry in which Ebay may have made $70. I refunded the buyer right away. Even though I have a store, Ebay holds the out of stock against you for 1 years. What does that mean??? They take an additional 6% of the final sale price. I sell 1 watch for $300 and they get $76. Which more than pays for the lost of revenue from the 7 items that were out of stock. They have collected hundreds of dollars from me already which is ridiculous . Ebay also reduced my item for sale by 1400 and capped my total items for sale at $20,000.  My loss in revenue is over $125,000 before of the Seller Dashboard Defect Category. This category should be removed from the seller dashboard. Ebay tell me that they are trying to keep buyer safe when buying on Ebay but all they are doing is ripping off good seller. ANY ONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM ???

This situation should not be thought of in terms of the fees you paid.

If you are a Below Standard Seller, you are a threat to the reputation of the entire site, and a potential cause of lost sales for Ebay and every other seller.

You are being punished for being an unreliable seller. I share your displeasure with the 1 year window on the metrics, but many sellers, including myself, manage to avoid providing such poor service.

Out of stock is a big violation in their eyes. It's one of the things that may get you to the exit quickly.

7 out of stock is huge. In fact, I have seen accounts get totally nixed for less.

Rather than be angry at eBay for following their policies, you should be looking at your policies and figuring out what is causing the high defect rate. The only time you should have to use the out of stock is when something has been damaged since you listed it. Items should not get lost and should not be on the platform if they were sold somewhere else. Are you losing items or are you having items sell elsewhere and not maintaining your site inventory?

They absolutely should not remove this category from the dashboard or the metrics. The metrics is one of the few ways eBay can weed out bad sellers.  Consistently causing issues for buyers and having to cancel sales is one of the hot buttons for eBay, and in fact, any platform.

Have you figured out why the out of stock situation keeps happening?  To get out of this, you have to fix that.  This has been a defect criteria for quite a while now.  All sellers are subject to the same rules.
