SCAMMED!

sob i JUST GOT SCAMMED BY A BUYER! IM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 3 AND THIS HAS ME IN TEARS I SENT SOMEONE IN CANADA A PAIR OF HIGH END NIKE SHOES THAT WERE WORN MAYBE TWICE AND THEY OPENED A RETURN SENT PICTURES OF A OLD WORN OUT PAIR OF THE SAME KINDA SHOES. 😞 EBAY TOLD ME TO SEND A RETURN LABLE IN 4 DAYS OR THEY WOULD REFUND THE BUYER WITHOUT MAKING THEM SEND MY  SHOES BACK  AND I SPENT HOURS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SEND A RETURN LABLE I DIDNT KNOW HOW. I KEPT SENDING MESSAGES SAYING I HAVE PICTURES OF THE SERIAL NUMBERS OF THE NEW SHOES I SENT AND NOTHING..I JUST GAVE UP AND HIT THE SEND REFUND BUTTON TO JUST GET THIS OVER WITH AND TRY AND FORGET IT. AT LEAST NOW I KNOW WHERE I STAND AS A SELLER ON EBAY. IM JUST HEART BROKEN BECAUSE I DO EBAY TO GIVE MY KIDS EXTRA AND SOME LIER, SCAMMER, JERK JUST RIPPED ME OFF OVER $100 RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS! I CANT BELIEVE THIS! AT LEAST NOW I KNOW ANY BUYER AT ANY TIME CAN RIP OFF A SELLER ON EBAY. HOW SAD

I'm sorry that happened to you. It's best not to ship expensive items outside the US. especially when you're new or don't sell very often.  Because the buyer was in Canada you would have had to find out what the shipping back to the US would have cost. Then send the buyer the funds for the shipping label.

There are two ways to send return postage to an international buyer.

The first is to use Paypal's Send Money service.

You may have to ask the buyer how much tracked shipping from her location will cost.

If she does not use the money to buy a return shipping label (in this case, from Canada Post) you then can start an Item Not Received Dispute with PP. 

Which is all in all a pain.


But.

With Canada, it's easier.

Open an account with Shippo.com. I'm not sure if this is easily available through eBaydotCOM but it is the standard for dotCA.

With Shippo you can buy not only USPS shipping labels but also Canada Post labels.

This might be handy, since Canada Post works most accurately with metric measurements. (We went metric in 1974.)

Tracked Packet USA is usually the cheapest, but consider Expedited USA as well.

 

If nothing is returned, you win the case.

If the wrong thing is returned, you can contact Customer Service (during mainland business hours) and explain the problem.

Save the sob story. The clerk doesn't need it, and she has heard more of them than a country radio station.

Keep it calm and professional. Be able to send pictures of the garbage you were returned.

 

But often, when you call a scammer on his bluff, he will fold.

If he doesn't use the Return Shipping Label, he loses the case and you keep the money.

(This is why the Shippo method is better than the Paypal method.)

If he doesn't use the Label, eventually you will be refunded on it. Not quickly.

 

The main point here is NO REFUNDS WITHOUT RETURN.

Thanks for your effort to help this seller, but, in reading the message, it sounds like the buyer has already been refunded without having been required to return the shoes.  So pretty much a dead end street, isn't it?

soso sorry this happened to you. i know the feeling, a lot of sellers do. while most buyers are honest people, sometimes we all deal with one that is not. there is nothing anymore you can do to remedy this current situation, so putting it behind you is the best thing to do. getting anxious over it will only hurt you, and not the buyer. but rest assured, KARMA is real.... so going forward, i would recommend using  the global shipping program the next time you list something on ebay. that way you are only responsible to ship the item to ebays warehouse in the u.s. ebay ships it the rest of the way. and i think because ebay is involved more when using gsp, it does weed out and deter the scammers.

We stopped shipping international here on eBay.

 

Whenever someone wants a free return they claim not as described. 

 

Not worth the hassle as you are totally at the mercy of the scam buyers.

 

The last six months of the year we saw record return fraud before turning off international shipping.

 

Do not sell anything on eBay you can't afford to lose because there is a good chance that you will lose it.

eBay is not what it used to be. We have scam sellers (Chinese) and now scam buyers with fake returns. Just have to have tracking and your helpless.

The person who starts a thread is not the only audience for a thread - as your response here demonstrates.

 

The OP's transaction may be a dead end street, but there are millions and millions of transactions that have not started. 

 

One of the benefits of this board is that other community members who read the posts can benefit from the experience and advice of others.
