Reverse throttling.

I normally sell 1-2  items a day.

Today I had 7 orders.

You don't just go from 1 or 2 orders  a day  to 7 orders.

It's not normal.

It's like somebody turned ON a switch.

I believe ebay is playing tricks  and reverse  throttling me.

I'm going to contact ebay and ask them what's going on.

its just to get your hopes up for the big summer slowdown

ebay wants to make sure you stick around for the entire summer so they did a teaser sale for you

thats my theory, ebay is controlling the market for you not your customers

it sounds like someone did a store reset, yeah that must be it, your store was put on reset

they flipped the switch and turned up the dial

Sneaky. Very sneaky.

One of these days I'm going to stop doing business with this unethical company.

I think your parents should have throttled you so you would not be so snarky now.   ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£

@inhawaii i think you hit the nail on the head.  although i do not think it is reverse throttling. i think it is just how bad the system is set up. They are constantly playing catchup with the search issues and adapting and tweaking algorithms. Perhaps they made an adjustment to show your items in more that 4 states at a time instead of the rolling state to state visibility that sellers notice sometimes...... that increased visibility would account logically for more sales.

I know we are on different sides of this but honestly ebay has admitted that they control visibility of individual accounts under various circumstances- so if they admit it- why is it so hard to think that they do it?

If ebay is doing an amazing job- why have they been in a constant state of decline and market share loss and GMV loss for several years?

Lastly - all other things considered, you sell a very small amount of very inexpensive items compared to many of us here that are commenting..... that is not to say you opinion is not valid, but isnt it completely reasonable to believe that a full  time seller may see different results or problems than a hobby seller?  Why do you try to invalidate what is happening to us?   That is like someone that just started a roadside lemonade stand telling Walmart how to run a business because they know better........It makes no sense

You should check with eBay CS if you can cancel some of these orders.  Seems like a clear violation of implied TOS.

Here is one for you. ~12 days of nothing. Coincided with opting out of EIS. Also, I was doing sell similar on about 100 items per day earlier in the month and thru the dry spell. (389 items) That did not work at all. Some would get a few views.

I quit the sell similar effort and did a 10% off sale on everything. That shook things up a bit.

Also did a PL campaign on the 389 listings that I was doing the sell similar effort. The PL's did not do much, a little, but not much.

1,200 listings and I had been listing new stuff weekly. Quite a few sales on the new listings the past 2 weeks. But nothing for 12 days? Never EVER came close to 12-day dry spell. 4 or 5 days, sure, here and there over the last year.

It's perfectly normal. Where are you getting your facts from? How did you come to that conclusion that it's not normal? It's happened to me multiple times. Uncommon is a much better word to use.

A 400% jump is not normal!  AND for that kind of jump in sales, that means that someone else must be losing out.  Some other seller has gone from seven sales a day down to just one or two.  /s
