I have been selling on ebay quite a while but never had a package returned so I want to do this right.
Buyer let me know her package was being sent back to me due to her address being wrong, said she is in a campground and USPS did not try to deliver. So today I did receive the package back, it says it was delivered to NH, where she is when in fact it was delivered to me in Fl. So how to proceed with refunding her. When I go in to refund what reason do i give? Wrong address is not an option. Also , do I only refund for the item and not shipping and what about ebay fees?
Thanks

You don't have to refund if you don't want to.
But, I would cancel the transaction, reason being address

Do not cancel the order. I don't think you can withhold the original shipping if you do that. Cancel order is for an order that has not shipped. Yours shipped.
Instead, when you go to "Send Refund," put in the cost of the item as the refund amount. Do not refund the shipping cost they paid, if you charged separately. If you did not charge shipping separately, then do not refund the cost of the label. Hit "next."
On the next screen you will have the option to section the reason. Select "other adjustment" as shown below:
You can then type in the text box something like, "The buyer input an incorrect address when they ordered. USPS returned as undeliverable. This is a refund for the cost of the item and does not include original shipping."
Issue the refund. Relist, and let them buy again if you want.
You may want to send your buyer a separate message letting them know you could not refund the shipping cost they paid. Most buyers will be understanding, especially if they know you do not have to refund them anything since you got a delivery scan on it.

OK thanks so much! I just wanted to make sure to do it the correct way.

Remember, you are NOT required to refund -or- re-ship the item.
This is what I would do.
I would refund the buyer LESS SHIPPING.
If the buyer still wants the item, have them correct their address and re-purchase the item.

Thanks, I refunded her what she paid for the sweater less the shipping and am going to relist it, If she wants to purchase it again obviously it will have to be with a different correct address.
