So I'm a buyer in this case. Filed a return for refund and sent the package on it's way via ebay generated USPS postage label. The package just showed up back at my door saying "Return To Sender". I checked tracking and it shows "Moved, Left No Address" among other unusual updates. https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?qtc_tLabels1=9302020128700484311067
So what now? Do I have to call ebay about this?

I happen to know that there was a glitch with return labels generated through eBay in the last few weeks. I had a customer request a replacement and when I generated the label it printed correctly from my address to his, but didn't show up in my labels as being created. It was under the "return" labels. It was a disaster and I had to call eBay to try and fix it and have them manually update the case. Call them and they will help you.

I would probably update the request details page first and then escalate the request to become a case (include a note in the correct section about what happened) and after eBay closes it in your favor contact the sellers via eBay messages and let them know what happened. Let them offer a solution for them getting there item back from you.
Good Luck Selling!

I won't BBL you nor will I block your posts here on the boards. To be honest, I look forward to seeing your posts. So what about that book? I'll write the 'Forward' and if that's not good enough -- maybe several of us here can write the 'Forward'!
Until the next Chapter!

Do the four green bubbles across the top of your Return Details page @bigdeals.etc show delivered back to the seller, even though it was delivered back to you, the buyer?
Your USPS tracking says Delivered to Original Sender; eBay seems to consider Delivered to Original Sender to be delivered, e.g. this opposite situation when the seller got the Delivered to Original Sender item back:
If that's right, you won't have to call eBay about this. Instead, just wait the 2 business days, the Ask eBay to step in link will appear, click it and select Did not get refund yet.

Most likely this seller updated their Registration Address and Primary Shipping Address but NOT their Primary RETURN Address.
Call eBay and ask for a new label with the updated address or I suppose you could try contacting the seller for a new label.

I have the older Returns Page on this return for some reason (maybe the seller wasn't opted into the new one). But regardless it does show the checkmark as return delivered. The last tracking update says the same thing as USPS tracking "DELIVERED TO ORIGINAL SENDER"... keeping in mind that original sender is me because this tracking is for return shipping and not the entire item transaction.
I think you're right in this situation as the automated system will just award me thinking the tracking shows "delivered". But I think I'll eventually contact ebay (I hate calling them with just only 1 issue, haha) if the seller doesn't respond to my message. I wouldn't want to give them a defect for no seller resolution if I escalate and win.

See this thread for comparison. Sometimes sellers just won't participate in a return.
Did your seller pay eBay to issue the return label, perhaps knowing full well it was a bad return address, or ignore and allow it to be escalated to eBay?

How do you "update the request details page"? Do you have a screenshot of this function? I know you may not have a current return which to grab that from, but if you can, that would be great.

The seller may not realize there’s a problem.
I moved a number of years ago, and much of my EBay stuff got messed up because I didn’t realize how many places/sections (not sure what to call them) there were where I needed to change my address.
The only thing that saved me is that I still owned the property connected to my original address, and my tenants notified me of a return.

eBay shows me my own return address when I select to have eBay issue a return label. But yes, when a return request shows up, the stress is awful and mistakes happen.

Here's how to send an eBay shipping label from the View return details section:
Return shipping labels don't include insurance. If you want return shipping to be insured, see our section on alternative return shipping options.

It's the seller's responsibility to provide a valid return address. If they fail to do that then- as you've just learned- the package gets returned to you and you still get a refund.
Message the seller and if they ignore the message then don't feel bad about escalating. If the seller made a mistake and wants to fix it they will respond to your message, send a refund and/or a new return shipping label. If the seller chooses to ignore you then go ahead and escalate through the case. Some sellers just don't care.
