I have a buyer who made a return. Today he wants me to exchange instead of a refund. Can I do that? How? I don't see that as an option on the Resolution page. Or, did he need to make that choice when he made the return request? I've stayed calm while he's 4-lettering me, then thanking me. I don't care that much about his contact style, yawn, but if I can bring this to a correct closure, I'll be happy. (He left neutral feedback with really nice words.) Thanks to everyone who can help with their input!

Yes, but only if you set up a choice for exchange when you cratered your listing, not after the fact. Don't continue to engage this buyer, but normally without setting up the exchange option, you'd just refund, then have them rebuy.
On eBay, you cannot run your business in a sane, logical manner. It's not allowed.

I'd complete the Return and ask the buyer to re-purchase. Just my kneejerk reaction...
