Resolution

I need to talk to a live person at ebay. I have been selling on ebay for 24 years and it's been harder and harder to communicate with them.  The Help articles do not apply to my specific situation and run me around in circles.  What can I do?  mcedro

Re: Resolution

Sold a small item.  Sent him the wrong thing.  Told him he could keep it.  Sent him the right thing.  Just before he received it, he opened a "request" with ebay.  He is happy, but did not close the request.  Ebay "decided" to refund his purchase and tarnish my sales record.

Re: Resolution

You should have refunded him the original amount once you decided he could keep it and relisted the correct item and told him where to find it. Otherwise, you found out what happens. EBay won't help you. They can't/won't refund you or make the buyer pay.

Yes, I think it's about time to get out of ebay.

@mcedro:

You have been here a long time and obviously strive for good customer service.

Shrug this one off and move on to the next sale.

@tijoha_86

"Yep, run away, because you messed up."

Be nice.

Re: Resolution

Your live help will probably be a help desk in India....and trust me....you won't get anywhere with them.

Been there. Done that.

Ebay is more pro buyer than pro seller by far. You are a independent Amazon store that needs to be able to compete with Amazon on their level. It doesn't matter if you're a big company with a dedicated staff for eBay or a one person operation. You are on an Amazon level playing field as a seller.

Chalk the sale up to a learning experience. If it was a high dollar item...chalk the sale up to a learning experience.

True story...I had a couple ask me about my eBay business...how to start..where I find my stock at...I told them everything they asked. When we were done, I said I have one more bit of advice for you:

"Take $500. Doesn't matter if it's in 100s, 50s, 20s or a mix. Hold the bills up and light them on fire until they are completely burned. And don't cry. Don't even look like you're about to cry because I held up $2000 and lit it on fire  and didn't cry (bad buy....ugh). If you can do that...go into selling on eBay or on-line."

They said that was great advice.

That's an odd conclusion to draw based on a single unusual situation which you now know how to handle in the unlikely event that it happens again.

And it's always good to remember that the initial situation did not arise from anything your buyer did or that eBay did. It arose because you made a mistake in the initial transaction.

Re: Resolution

You can write off the two items and move on.  Why leave ebay over something so small?  I sent the wrong matchbook once about seven years ago.  I told the buyer I would send the correct item and they could keep the other item.  All I had to do was end the item I sent by mistake so I wouldn't sell it by mistake.

Re: Resolution

Tried. Got: ACCESS DENIED

What link were you using when you got the "Access Denied" message, and what did it say, exactly?

There are a couple of different "Access Denied" messages you can run into; one is a browser message that can sometimes be caused by a particular browser incorrectly identifying a link as potentially harmful. In that case, trying another browser or using a different link might allow you to bypass the error.

In other cases the message is the result of a network limitation somewhere between you and eBay; in that case, disabling your VPN or switching to the eBay app or using a browser while connected to a different network (such as at a different location) might allow you to get around the error.
