Researched eBay's Problems......

Anonymous

READ FAST, THIS MAY NOT BE HERE LONG !

I learned a lot that explains most of what is going on at the site........

First off, eBay is dabbling in introducing AI to it's programming and algorithm. It is their hope that the systems will make decisions and changes on their own. It has been said that they may have lost control on the bit of AI they have introduced already.

Second, eBay is gearing themselves towards Millennials and Gen Z, and most likely will soon accept crypto- currencies as payment for goods. They are talking about Bitcoin for starters.

I learned that eBay is already accepting NFT's (Non-fungible Tokens), and has been for a while for those in the know. NFT's are controlled in the Ethereum block of crypto.

"Fungible" items are things that can be swapped item-for-item with the same value (like say a dollar bill).

"Non-Fungible" items each have a unique value and cannot be swapped item-for-item at the same value.

Of course, these NFT's are unique digital (non-tangible) units.

It's going to get much worse before it gets better, no one is expecting an uptick in the site until mid-late '23 or so.

Good Luck !

ebay has been using AI for quite a while now. Nothing new in that. Most sites of any size are using it.

Yes, ebay realizes that it needs to put more focus on the younger generation, for the simple reason that the older generation is , well, we're shuffling off this mortal coil....Again, most sites of any size are doing the same thing. ebay has been talking about this for several years now. No need for a "deep dive", this isn't really news.

ebay has been hinting for a while now that it might start to accept some form of crypto directly. It already accepts it through a PayPal like site, which allows people to pay with crypto but sellers are paid in dollars. Again, nothing new.

And again, nothing really new about NFTs. ebay allows NFTs to be sold on the site, has for a little while now. NFTs aren't a form of payment, they are a product. At the moment, one with rather speculative value, but many sites are trying to make sure they aren't left behind if the market stabilizes and/or takes off....just like ebay is doing.

Actually, nothing you are reporting hasn't been talked about publicly by ebay, and it has been discussed on the Boards as well.

Here’s the very secret and hard to find Yahoo article about eBay considering accepting crypto:

For your eyes only, the hidden eBay policy page about NFTs (the sale of then, they’re not meant to be a currency:

Now, not for the faint of heart, how eBay is integrating AI into their website since 2019:

Finally, I know Forbes is just a front for the Illuminati, but if you wish to learn about Gen Z and eBay, here you go:

Re: Researched eBay's Problems......

So should I start buying invisible items to sell? Where can I stock up on these NFT's. I can't even understand english and text and acronyms anymore. I'll go out on a limb and say you read this on the dark web so it's gotta be true.

I’m not sure if this was in jest, but if you want, I can explain NFTs (and it doesn’t require venturing into the dark web, I promise ☺️)

Re: Researched eBay's Problems......

bitcoin and NFT's are a joke, but there are those who will buy into them. Maybe it is some type of tax claim for the rich, but I see the average person getting burned? I have yet to see a full-scale explanation of these non-tangible gimmicks and the benefits of long-term investment.

Just reminds me why my Great Grandparents stashed money after going the Great Depression. I wonder if the children / teens today are even taught that era?

Sure, because I obviously didn't fully understand them myself.......

I'm starting to figure out that they are actually non-tangible pieces of art and such ?

Always makes me smile when I read things like this. Some op's have an exaggerated  notion of their thread's importance to Ebay.

Okay, the "deep dive" was kind of a joke........

The original post was really meant as a "Did you know ?" or "Have you seen this ?" kind of thing......

Got lots of members out of the woodwork and talking, always a good thing.

Guess I had nothing better to do since sales are carp here.

Did find some interesting things about eBay though that are spelled out but many of us may not have come across or read.

And indeed, the post brought out a variety of members, responses, and tones........

Aren't Non-fungible Tokens some sort of cure for toenail fungus???

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Don't flatter yourself. eBay does not pay any attention to you.

First off, eBay is dabbling in introducing AI to it's programming and algorithm.

eBay has been doing that for a decade at least.

It is their hope that the systems will make decisions and changes on their own.

eBay has been doing that for a decade at least.

It has been said that they may have lost control on the bit of AI

Lots of things "have been said".

Second, eBay is gearing themselves towards Millennials and Gen Z

They are talking about Bitcoin for starters.

The CEO of eBay publicly stated that they are looking at bitcoin.

I learned that eBay is already accepting NFT's (Non-fungible Tokens), and has been for a while for those in the know.

I assume "those in the know" is anyone who read the mainstream news media over a year ago
