I have been trying to keep up with the "soon to be required item specifics" so the time spent is spread out. But I am finding this to just be ebay wasting my time. I have items that have "necklace" in the description that were in a necklace category in a necklace section in my shop and ebay wasnt smart enough to carry that over to the new category. I have having to update every listing to reselect Necklace. REALLY???? I also had chosen "unbranded" or a brand and that was also dropped. I had 60 of these manufactured required updates waiting for me this morning with more to come.
Anybody else noticing this? Anybody seen an explanation for this badly managed update from ebay?

The exact same thing happened to me. I have a larimar necklace set for sale and it kept asking me what the ring size was, how many carats were the diamonds (no diamonds) cut clarity...era? It's totally useless and ridiculous. I just scrolled down and clicked on "don't remind me again." How can we have specifics when the specifics don't even apply or have anything to do with the item I'm selling? There was a post here where a buyer was looking for a specific set of earrings...a dvd copy of "Jaws" came up in her search. Their explanation is there are tech issues and they are working on it...tell it to the Marines. I feel your frustration.

I have been getting notifications of neeeded item updates at the rate of 100 to 200 a day. I am over it . I am not sure if I can put links in this platform, here is an article from the Auction Professor who tested item specifics against control inventory without updated specifics. His findings are significant and I have heeded his advice to move to simpler platforms and leave this nonsence behind me ( 20 years) . https://www.ecommercebytes.com/2021/05/26/the-problem-with-ebays-required-item-specifics/

This happened with clothing last year. It was the usual ebay fiasco. Smart move to do this in the fourth quarter.

I sell mostly china.
These item specifics are beyond ridiculous !
They have stuff that doesn't remotely apply to what I sell at all.
I will fill in everything that I know & it still is not enough , ugh.

Just a warning..........I would wait, at least til after today, if not until next wk to start working on IS........ The last time this happened.....people dived in immediately and ebay wasn't finished with all the movements/changes..........all the revisions that were made were lost...........

Every single thing ebay has done to the jewelry categories makes zero sense and will only lead to complete confusion. If you have a 14k gold ring with a cubic zirconia it now must be listed as fashion jewelry, BUT a 14k gold ring with a colored piece of glass can go under Fine Jewelry. When people hear the word fashion they think of cheap, junkie costume jewelry. Common sense is that precious metals go under Fine Jewelry and plated garbage goes under fashion. Should never be dictated by a stone. The person that came up with this new format should be fired as they are obviously clueless. We wont be dumping ebay, BUT we will definitely start focusing more on other platforms that do not require the senseless time consuming item specifics

Agree 100%. The person that designed these new pointless Item specific is a clueless idiot. We have over 40000 sells on ebay NEVER has anyone asked me stone depth. In most settings it is impossible to measure, but ebay now has it as a item specific. I could see this under loose gemstones. 99.9% of the buyers dont even have a clue to that info. I guess ebay now caters to the 0.0001% now

Yes, so annoying and a total waste of my time and they changed Categories on some of my items, to an incorrect Category. I didn't notice it on an item that had been bid on, women's perfume that was put in Men's fragrances and bidder was a man! He had to retract his bid!

I spent an entire day entering item specifics and got all the diamond specifics for a ring with no stones!

Yes, they have placed a bunch of my items in the wrong categories too.
For instance, a set of bowls is placed in the platters category.
Can I scream 😱 now?

I feel your pain. Choosing "no stone" should hide all of the item specifics related to stones. Except it doesnt.

Yes, your bowls are now listed as "platters."
And all the vases are now listed as "bowls."
Screaming just leaves me with a sore throat, so I don't do it . . . . .

OMG, YESSSSSS! Drives me crazy. How about when you get a message "missing item specifics" so I enter N/A on all the dumb stuff and then I click "update" and I get a message "too many item specifics" ????????
😠
