Hear me out
.
I am seeing a extremely large price tag on items that should not be nearly that high priced.
I see junk that people pulled out the ditch, still dirty for hundreds. I don't wanna hear about what someone willing to pay. Most people , and I'm taking 99.99999% won't pay a dime for this junk. May I say even 100% won't do it cause I see this stuff getting relisted for long periods..
I see these items get relisted for very long periods. Things that should cost 50$ or actually 1000$ . I can easily put item numbers but I won't.
The fact that people can easily relist for free forever is incitive for this behavior.
It's appalling..
I propose a relist fee. After a month or so of no sale on the same item ( not sure how eBay would track it cause they would just create a new listing instead of hitting relist button) I request eBay to start charging people to relist. The relist price is tiered and gets higher each week it doesn't sale . Yes this is like the shipping price scam everyone was doing years ago. eBay supposedly fixed that but now we see this problem ..
Please eBay. Fix this.
Once you figure out how to fix this problem I'm sure people will start to shop here more.
As of now people are really stunned and shocked and running away at the site of these dumb prices.
What's everyone's ideas? Seriously.

Did you even read Ebay's price gouging policy?
It applies to essentials in cases of emergencies, things like hand sanitizer during covid, baby formula after a recall, diapers, bottled water during hurricanes, floods and tornados, etc.
I assure you, ebay doesn't care how much someone charges for small bass volume knob or a car amp!
Having been on ebay for a whopping 2 months, perhaps you aren't as familiar with what ebay policy allows and what is disallowed. None of the sellers you described above as "gouging" are violating any rules nor are they being dishonest.

I don't think you have one. I think I might, though. 😖

I haven't read all the comments but if this is a selling feature you prefer, I suggest you stroll on over to Etsy. They do charge a listing fee and are happy to add that fee to the others they have in regard to a sale. Personally I have had items hang around for quite a while and eventually the right buyer comes along. After paying listing fees on one venue and not paying on another, I prefer the later. It is unusual to see someone wanting to pay more fees to eBay but to each his own.

I'm not sure if you missed the notification that I replied (message 89) to your thoughtful reply to me (79), amidst the various conversations you were in, on those pages yesterday. It should probably seem a small thing to me a full day later, but I am still sincerely curious why you said a TRS filter "would seriously restrict cash flow and almost certainly expose eBay to legal challenges" -more than the filters they currently offer for search results. Logical puzzles always confound me, and I've racked my brain but can't guess how either of those outcomes could occur.

@ckinkead wrote:Most horse and buggy manufacturers did not think that weird model A thing was going to be a problem for them. Short sited companies will loose eventually...ever hear of Woolworth?, Walmart brought something different to the game, and Woolworth died a slow death because they would not change. There are many more failed businesses then successful, I am sure not listening to their customers, before their suppliers, was a big part of it.
Also, you really did not think a government analogy was going to win anybody over did you?😁
Juxtaposing eBay with a horse and buggy manufacturer / Woolworth?
No wonder you did not get my analogy.
I will walk you through it if you like. Please advise.

Well. I guess it seems most of you like the eBay high prices .
I guess you all seem to also like paying high grocery prices .
Let me show you how this all works nowadays
1 item is posted at stupid high price.
That seller creates a second account and bids on it . This creates a fake sale where others see it and puts the idea in place that since someone else wants it at that price well then maybe I should have bid..
Seller rapists and then sometimes we see buyers actually buying this junk.
Same with apartments and condos.
If all the apartment buildings decided to rip people off and there's no other place to go shop for an apartment well then you're forced to pay the stupid price..
This so what has happened in eBay .
Thanks to the BIN stupidity, any kid can come along and list a stick of bubble gum for 750$.
Eventually give. Enough time all the sellers in eBay selling bubble gum will attempt this **bleep** and what happens is they may not get 750 bucks but some may get 250$ for a stick of bubble gum..
This is the problem in eBay .
There is no bargains cause as soon as one seller sees someone selling an item for a dollar more than the same item they have for sale, prices go up. Up up.
I don't really buy much in here .
I see things in websites other than eBay which are far less expensive ..
Plus eBay items are usually lacking in the warranty department .
Gotta go
That's my 2 cents .
If you all wanna keep paying and not having any chance at all biding . Then keep coming to eBay..

Laughing out loud... how much direct contact have you had with other intelligent life forms?
Good luck buddy, you are really gonna need it.

"I don't really buy much in here ."
And yet, you have had eight Ebay purchases in a month, LOL.

Are you as appalled as I am at the staggering hubris?
This is the offspring of the internet and smartphones. And to think that there a millions of them out there.
I cannot imagine what sort of future they have, quite frankly.

LOL...boggles the mind.

I'm going to answer you as a seller, one who has been selling here since 2013. Become a seller for one year, selling full time, and see if you still agree with what you have said.
There are listing fees. There are store fees monthly. The final value fee is charged to the seller on the total of the sale, yes on the tax and shipping too. Don't get me started on the price of shipping that goes up 3 times a year. Shipping materials cost money. Sellers have to buy the items, store the items, package the items, and ship the items.
There are entitled buyers who ask for 50% off an item even though there is no best offer on the item. There are buyers who abuse returns, costing sellers money for return shipping and/or refunding.
I have had items listed for a few minutes that have sold. I had a book listed that sold after 3 years. Both sales are important and the one that was listed for a long time is no less valid or important. Who are you to say that I can't have that item up for sale that long? I'm glad it isn't up to one person. It's up to the individual seller how long they keep their items for sale. I'm glad eBay doesn't take that freedom away from us.
Selling here is not easy and it isn't free or even cheap. I'm happy to sell here because it puts food on the table and I can control my own store.

Selling here is not easy and it isn't free or even cheap.
⬆️ An eternal and, for many, uncomfortable truth.
And the polar opposite of what imbeciles can learn by watching a YouTube video, uploaded by an "entrepreneur" (a 23 year old unemployed male who lives at home), about "making money in your sleep."

Sellers can't bid on their own items @Anonymous , no matter how many accounts they have. All are tied together by payments, so your statement is false. Like I said, be a seller for a year and you will see your fallacies.
