How do I report a buyer for offensive language? They did not buy anything, but wanted me to break up an item and sell it at a big discount. I said no and they sent me a horrible message.

You'll hear this from almost everyone: First, block this person. Then refuse to reply to ANY messages, no matter the content. It only fuels them to continue. THEN you can report. Reporting usually doesn't do a thing except to give you a place to complain. Has anyone seen a positive result from 'reporting'?
I'm sorry this @#$%! person found you, but don't give them any power to hurt you! Keep going and get those sales!

Since they didn't actually buy from you, you won't be able to use the easy report button. Scroll all the way to the bottom of this page: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/rules-policies-buyers/abusive-buyer-policy?id=4374
Use the automated chat. When the chat box pops up, click 'See more' - you may have to scroll in the box a bit - them "request an agent". This bypasses the chat bot and gets you a real person if online support is available at that time.

Delete & ignore any and all offensive messages.
Put the member on your BBL … and block communication from Buyer Requirements.
Report real threats to law enforcement.
I’m very sorry this happened … but eBay isn’t equipped to deal with unwanted communication between members.

I'm sorry you received an offensive message, but you need to simply delete it and move along. There are millions of people using this platform and no one is going to stop to read a message using offensive language. If this person has physically threatened you then you can report it to your local police, but since they never purchased anything from you, they cannot find your actual name or address, so nothing will be done there either. People can be rude sometimes, especially when over the internet. Go enjoy a nice hot cup of tea and put on your favorite music....

Move on. Being offended is a choice.

Green tea with a spot of honey. Good for you, inside and out! I vote yes!

Never mind, the member sent me a message meant for their cousin. Hilarious!

Thank you. You are right. I always block offensive people, but refer to above to see what actually happened. I won't post what they said to me, but the explanation had me in stitches!!!
I just couldn't figure out how to contact ebay about it because they hadn't bought anything. I figured it out.

Being offensive is a choice. You didn't read it.

If it was just bad language I would block and ignore.
If it was an actual physical threat I would report to ebay and maybe even to law enforcement.

That's what I did, but in the middle of it, the buyer explained the mistake, we were laughing and crying at the end!

Thanks for the update. Sorry you got caught up, however briefly, in a family feud! 😄

Your buyer must really love her cousin 🤣

You simply can't please everyone. Just block the buyer & move on.
Hang in there.
